I saw this title in a mom and pop rental store once and never thought about renting it. Is it any good? How come you can't find this game in EBgames or gamestop? Has anyone else seen this game before?

I searched because I thought at some point there was a thorough discussion on the series, but I don't see that. Maybe I'm thinking of Greg Wilcox's column.

There was a recent discussion of the series in my Sleeper of the Week when we talked about Road Trip for PS2 (another Choro game) HERE (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54840)

I played one of the Japanese PS2 Choro Q games, but I don't know if it was the same one as the US release. It was one of the earliest PS2 releases, and wasn't all that great. The controls were pretty mushy and imprecise, but some of the levels (courses?) were pretty original. I'd rate it a 5 or 6 out of 10. Again, I don't know if it was the one released in the US or not though.

I've seen at least one new copy at each local EB I frequent.

I got mine @ EB for 12.99 new. It was the last one BTW. The manager who is a friend of mine told me tha he received two copies, one was mine.
I didn't like it, not much in the fun factor. Plus the town was really lame, just seemed like there was nothing to do.

It's definitely a fun game, but I think Gadget Racers (US title - it's "Choro Q HG" in Japan) has a more mature racing engine and whatnot. That one's basically Gran Turismo 3 with Choro Q cars. Heh. But they're both fun, and Choro Q is looking to be fairly rare, so it's worth picking up.

I played the domestic release on the PS2 and honestly, its one of the best games I have ever played for 10$. I found it to be better then a number of titles released for 5x the price. Its severly under rated as its both racing and RPG. I got lucky last Christmas and found mine at a local Kohls of all places. Bought Castle Shikigami there as well. Plenty of parts and paint variations to go around.

I'm more surprised to hear that there's an EB or a Gamestop that DOESN'T have a ChoroQ!
I picked mine up a few months ago. It also seems to be on EBgames' website under $10 pretty much always so you shouldn't have any problem finding it dirt cheap.

Only if you consider fun to include staying up till the wee hours of the night fun, or being late 30 minutes for school because you wanted to finish one more race fun. It actualy is a good game. The weakest part of it would be the story to it. Beyond that, its all good. The racing is simular to a cart racer, but even so for the price, its hard to find a better.
