Resident Evil 4 Query - No Spoilers Please

I hope this hasnt been asked before, as i havent checked any other RE4 Topic as i was afraid it may have a spoiler inside.
As for Gamefaqs to or anyother FAQ site...

Ive just hit Scene 3-3 and have a query

These "Treasures" you collect... Masks, Pipe, necklaces and so on, do they give you anything if you collect them or are they purely for selling to the merchants for cash? I have kept every single one upto now and now im starting to wonder, as i could do with some new weaponry

If you can sell it, then it's for raising cash with the merchant. If you can't, then you need it to complete a puzzle.

Remember to try combining them as well :)

As the above post states, if you can sell it, sell it. but make sure that you examine each item that's not a gem or stone, like a crown or a headdress. These items can be combined with rubys,garnets, cats-eyes, etc to make them more valuable. So the crown that you can sell for 5000, if you examine it, it will tell you that it has two slots on it. Combine it with the appropriate gems to make it worth 15000. You'll know which gems are correct when you combine them, because it wont work if its the wrong gem.

"Treasures" are just for selling to the merchant for money. As mentioned, some can be combined to increase the total value when sold. "Key items" are for solving puzzles (mostly) and can't be sold. Everything else goes in your inventory, and you can use, sell, or discard them as you see fit.

Figures. I go through the game four times and it never occured to me to combine jewels with treasures. :roll:
