Can anyone tell me if this game was officially released for the Game Gear?

I know it came out for the Master System... I have it. I got a 2-in-1 multicart recently, and G & G is one of the games on it. My Master System is currently non-operational you'd think that a cord from a Genny, NES, or GG would work, but Noooooo) so I can't compare the too. It LOOKS like a straight SMS port... small title screen and everythihg. I wonder if Phantasy Star was ever put on a tiny GG cart on a pirate somewhere? That would be cool, but totally unreadable.

Anyone know if G & G officialy came out for the GG?

No it was not offical, but a SMS version does exist (which you already know)

and since the link you provided, seems it's a SMS collection :)

As for your SMS, a Genesis 1 PSU should work with it pretty well. I know it did on mine.

Yet that looks like a pirated version of the SMS to the GameGear

Very lovely job if I do say so myself

Well it seems by your name that you would be the expert!

So this game on the cheap-looking GG cart is just the SMS game hacked onto the smaller media?

That's kind of cool!

Bingo, a direct hack. How well does it play btw? Does the screen resolution fit the GameGear screen perfectly or is it cut off some?

It plays pretty darn well and it seems to fit the screen perfectly from what I can tell.

I love the SNES sequel, so it's hard to go back to single-jumping. I'm getting it, though.

Cool!

Double Jump was the key essence of Super GnG. You could tell Capcom really loved that feature, since a majority of the time, you will use it like crazy

Yet, good luck on this interesting GameGear hack-port :) SMS is quite unique by far compared to any other verison

Yeah, you'll find lots of SMS games on GG pirate carts. I once saw a 2-in-1 that had Double Dragon and Altered Beast.

Come to think of it... the other game on the 2-in-1 was Double Dragon! I thought that was released on GG... I must be thinking Streets of Rage!

By the way Mister Ghouls N Ghosts... How is the SMS version quite different from the other versions?

Instead of treasure chest, a door appears, inside there will be a little shop, you can buy armor upgrades and such...quite weird to me...

It was released. Although it's an entirely different game as the SMS version.

Actually, the treasure chests make those doors appear. You also have various magic spells (and magic points) that are obtained as you upgrade your armor. I've got to at least Sega some credit for trying to shake up the game...

Exactly. Whoever programmed the SMS version had a good idea to add more features to it. Especially given the time of release when Genesis was taking up the spot light, taking a nose dive and trying to make the game with an upper edge was a nice move.
