Panzer Dragoon on Game Gear compared to the Saturn games?

I've been on an Game Gear kick recently after a long, LONG time without one (long story involving a lot of alcohol.)

Anyway, I've been digging into the import scene for the Game Gear (it has some really cool stuff that never made it here like Gunstar Heroes, Galaga '91, some cool shooters, etc.) and the I heard there is a Panzer Dragoon game for the Game Gear that is based on the Saturn games. I understand it's a shooter and not and RPG so it should be accessable to a gamer who knows no Japanese.

Obviously, the graphics are going to take one hell of a hit. I mean, we're comparing texture mapped polygons from a system that came out in 1995 to spites on a handheld whose technology goes back 10 years to 1985 or so.

I can't find much info on this game... anyone have any info? And what is a Kid's Gear? Is it a Game Gear that's made for children?

It's ok as far as shooters go. You mostly stay facing forward. The game dicates when you switch to other views. Think of it like Space Harrier with a few moments of side shooting.

The ROM is out there is you really want to play it.

The magnifying glass thing I had for the GG years ago was a piece of junk, but I think there was more than one variety...

I've got a sneaking suspicion they're ALL afwul though. LOL

Panzer Dragoon on GameGear is sad bro, stay clear away from it. It sounds good...but once you see it, I think you'll want to stick with the Saturn

Thanks for the help, though, adding the "mini" to the search field helped a GREAT deal. I found some pics. Evidentally this game was produced in very small quantities and was one of the GG's last games. Doesn't look like it's worth the $100+ asking price!
