Found Discworld II and Parasite Eve II for PS1 today, but the shop assistant couldn't find the disc for Discworld (coincidence? :P) so I went away with only one game :/

Found Brokedown Palace DVD for $2 - not a great movie by any means, but I have this thing about Claire Danes… so yeah, I grabbed it.

Found Karaoke Revolution 1-3 (with mic), Scrabble (PSX) and Koudelka (PSX) for $54.
Gonna eBay KR. Scrabble is a keeper. Unfortunately Koudelka wasn't in the original case... argh... so I'm not going to keep it. Stupid completist gene trait thing.

Found Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego for the NES - complete for $5! Comes in an outer cardboard shell and is packaged with instructions and a desk encyclopedia! This is sweet - game is mint, and though the box/encyclopedia is a bit beat-up, it’s still in great shape. R5.

Langrisser Tribue for the Saturn and Langrisser IV & V Final Edition for the PS today. Yeah, they overlap a lot, but I really like the Langrisser series. If worse comes to worse I can sell off the PS one.

Also managed to find ALL of the Eikyuu Gensokyoku games for the PS, and the one Saturn release that never made it over to the PS. All dirt cheap too. It's a cute adventure game series, but I'm glad I didn't have to pay much for it.

Nothing as of yet, but I am feeling good about today. I am heading all over the place to hit some thrifts and pawns that I have never been to. Then I'm going to the next town over to hit the EB games and Gamestop, then maybe later tonight I might head to Gamecrazy over where my in-laws live. Hopefully something good can come out of this

And tylerwillis, nice grab on that Carmen Sandiego. I've been looking for one of those in the wild for a while now.

Edit -
Not game related, but I did manage to come across 4 tix to Kenny Chesney in Charlotte.

Not really finds for this weekend, but as I've been in Europe the past 2 weeks with barely any internet access, I'll post these here.

Found in a game shop in London:
GP32 BLU
GP32 Wizard Slayer
Japanese Super32X Space Harrier
Japanese Saturn Fighters Megamix
PAL Dreamcast Sonic Adventure
PAL Saturn Virtua Fighter

Found in a game shop in P a r i s (can't we get rid of this filter now??)
CIB Japanese Sega Mark III (complete down to the paperwork and little joystick knobs)
CIB Mark III Thunderblade
CIB Mark III Afterburner
CIB Mark III Fantasy Zone

Other than the games found in London, none of it was real cheap but I got better than Ebay on all of it plus I have the memories of dragging it back across the pond! Security in Gatwick wasn't quite sure what to make of the Mark III!!

I guess this counts as weekend, found this late last night on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8192271448&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Now I'm still just looking for a box, check my thread!

http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60283

The real 'why-in-the-hell-is-this-here' find for me though is coming up in about an hour when I pick up a boxed and modded Japanese Saturn console with three Japanese games (Fire Pro Wrestling and can't remember the others).

I'll post pics once I get it. I just hope the modding works. The original owner cut a small hole in the rear and installed a 2-way switch (it's pretty professional looking too!) to select for USA or JAP games. I guess this would be the common mod for this system, but this is my first time with any kind of Saturn stuff, so I'll find out. Speaking of which, can anybody recommend good games I should be looking for?

I did better this morning with non-game items as far as yard sale finds go!

13" TV - $3 (the owner was going to throw it away because she lost the antenna, I'm going to use it as a second gaming TV for the bedroom)
Medevil (PS1, complete) - $3
NCAA 2005/Top Spin 2-pack (XB, complete) - $5
How High (DVD) - $5
Performance memory card (Saturn, loose) - 50 cents
Need For Speed Underground strategy guide - 50 cents

I got a bunch of other stuff I needed for my apartment (bookshelf, dishes, flatware, knife set, floor lamp), and so far, I've only spent about $12 for the rest.

I keep hoping I'll run into a working complete Saturn for cheap, but no luck thus far, so I'll keep trying...

More Gamecrazy stuff. It's amazing how very little people are taking advantage of this deal at my local GC. Seriously, It looks like I'm the only one buying "classic plastic" which sucks since they won't get alot of new inventory. Anyway, I got:

Super Bomberman 2 (SNES)
Mystical Ninja starring Goemon (N64)
Super Smash Bros. (N64)
Mario Kart 64 (N64)
Mischief Makers (N64)
Kirby 64 (N64, and a nice, annoying clear Blockbuster sticker covering the stickers on both sides...)

By the way, WTF was Konami thinking making Mystical Ninja a game that can only be saved with an expansion pack save card? Now I need another accessory, argh! Cheap bastards and their lack of EEPROM in the carts...

Went to a garage sale (first one in AGES) and got:

A wood grain Atari 2600 (4 switcher CX 2600 A), two paddle controllers (the pair kind), and a "Star Fighter" joystick along with Centipede, Frogger, Megamania, Seaquest and Space Jockey for $8. (The husband was willing to drop to 8 from 10 the wife wasn't. Nice to know the guy won out. They were thinking of selling it on eBay. I got them to see things my way!) Also discovered (actually remembered) that a Sega Genesis controller would work in a pinch!

As promised earlier, here are the pics for the import/modded Saturn I picked up earlier today.

Main System:
http://www.mpband.com/jordan/inboxall.jpg

http://www.mpband.com/jordan/front.jpg

http://www.mpband.com/jordan/lidopen.jpg

http://www.mpband.com/jordan/boxback.jpg

It came with the original warranty and registration card! (No instructions unfortunately):
http://www.mpband.com/jordan/warranty.jpg

Now here's the switch that was installed on the back. From what I gather it switches the unit between either JAP or USA region, but I'm not sure I understand the reason for this, as it seems to play games from either region in the one setting. Anybody know more about this?
http://www.mpband.com/jordan/modswitch.jpg

And the games I bought with it:
http://www.mpband.com/jordan/games1.jpg
http://www.mpband.com/jordan/games2.jpg

All complete and mint!
--------------------------
[USA]
Nights Into Dreams...
Alone in the Dark: One-Eyed Jack's Revenge
[JAP]
Fire Pro Wrestling S 6men Scramble
Gran Chaser
Virtua Fighter

Picked up all this for ~$62, I know the guys who run the shop, so I got a bit of a deal, so I was pretty pleased, I gather the import games aren't anything spectacular, but they're all in perfect condition, and everything works, so I can't complain!

If anyone knows anything about the Saturn mod or import Saturns in general, please indulge me.

-hellvin-

That Saturn looks excellent. Nice console you got there. I've gotten so much enjoyment out of my modded saturn it's rediculous. Truly one of the best systems I've ever played.

I found for SNES at a local pawn shop for $2.99 each:

T2 Arcade Game (Complete)
Home Alone (Complete)
Home Improvement (Loose)

Later at a garage sale I bought a Genesis Ghouls 'N Ghosts (Complete) for $2. When I got home I opened the case and found spare Altered Beast intsructions in addition to the Ghouls 'N Ghosts instructions.

Maybe its a PAL/NTSC switch?

Or a NTSC-J to NTSC-U switch?

All i can think of but i think it might be one of them.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Okay, here's what I've figured out with the switch so far. The internal battery is pretty much dead, which means the Saturn asks me to set the date/time everytime I start it. This is pretty useful for trying to figure it out, as the set screen is in Japanese when the switch is to the right and English on the left.

However, the part I don't understand is that when it's in JAP mode, it will boot both US and JAP games, but when in the 'English' mode, will only boot US games. So what was the point of modding it if it will play both types in what I would assume to be it's original encoding?

Possibly like the Genesis/Megadrive Region Mod. Games may boot up in different modes possibly?

like Streets Of Rage changes into Bare Knuckle...

Just and idea

And yeah that Saturn is Awesome!!!
