To the best of everyone's knowledge can the Megadrive play all Genesis games and vice-versa? The reason I'm asking is because my Teradrive won't let me play Gunstar Heroes (Genesis). It gives me a screen display that says "Developed for use only with NTSC Genesis Systems".

Is this common when trying to play Genny games on a Megadrive, or is it a Teradrive exclusive problem? Does anyone have a Megadrive and a US copy of Gunstar Heroes so they can test compatibility across core systems?

Any help would be appreciated.

Who knows, maybe I can develop a mod to play region-free on a Teradrive Laughing

...most useless mod ever.

The search function is your friend :D

But this one time only.

A good general (but not always true) rule is that any game made about Mid-late 1992 started incorporating a "region lock out".

I say the rule isnt always true because i know "Streets of Rage 2" has a lock out but a later game "High Seas Havoc" does not. I know this because i have a modded Genesis and if its not set to the correct region the system will tell me.

So no, its not a Teradrive only thing.

I'd usually reccomend the double-switch mod for most MD/Genesis compatibility issues, but if you're talking about a Tera Drive, it'd probably be less hassle to track down a Mega Key-type adaptor.
