a lot of people dislike the game, despite it being of reduced cost. what's your opinion?

I just want to know who came up with that bizarre Janglish tagline on the packaging: "Big Hit - Friend Prices."

i think its worth the 20 bucks.i have a copy, its a good game.i have had fun playing it,and even though it dont have the best graphics,or gameplay,or music,or storyline, its still fun,and to me if i can have fun with a game thats so limited, either there is something worthwhile to the game,or im mentaly slow.either way,i have fun playing it.its not the best game around(far from it),but its not shit either, like alot of folks say it is.

of course its existence is justified - it's the only game I know of to feature a "fuck" button.
that is, a button that makes your dude scream POLICE, GET THE FUCK DOWN on command. that just kills me for some reason, especially if you use it right after you sell someone some drugs. entrapment is fun!

At least Midway realized nobody would pay $50 for another Driv3r and launched it at $20. That's all it is. Nobody cares about making games cheaper, this was just a publicity stunt to get people to buy their shitty game.
The new NARC is an example of everything that's wrong with gaming today. It's just another GTA clone with lots of violence and profanity and hardly any gameplay or direction, and no innvation.
The game is proof that even though Acclaim may be dead, their spirit lives on.

Dude, are you talking about the original NARC or its recent remake?
I haven't played the new one, so I can't comment on it.
The original NARC is sorta fun to play, but it's a guilty pleasure - the game is, after all, tasteless, blatant propaganda.

No, he's talking of the remake...
For those who didn't know, the original version of NARC was designed by Eugene Jarvis (and for those who don't know who Jarvis is, he's the creator of Defender and Robotron 2084. He was also closely involved in the development of Smash TV and the Cruisin' driving series.)

I think Jarvis designed the original NARC with tongue in cheek -- it's so over the top that it's hard to take it seriously as any sort of anti-drug message or DEA recruitment tool.
I love the original NARC -- once I buy a house or condo, I'm going to get the arcade machine. I thought the remake (from what I played of it at a friend's house) was pretty poor -- didn't one of the desginers post one here that even the people that worked on it thought it was crap?

only eight votes so far? talk about poor turnout.
Well, I think that the whole GTA/thug thing is nearing the end of it's run.
Narc? I'm over the age of 19 and I have no interest in pretending I'm a drug-using gangsta....so it does nothing for me. I don't use drugs in real life....why would I want to in a game?LOL

It's worth getting if you have an extra few dollars and an impulse to buy something. It's not worth the gas or time it takes you to get to the store, but if you're already there, go ahead and pick it up. Just keep in mind that the Xbox has many better games for twenty bucks or less, but you probably know that. It's diverting for an hour or so.

I haven't played it, but I don't think I need to. Just looking at the sort of press it's getting (and I don't mean mainstream press, I mean gaming reviews) tells me it's absolute garbage. No surprise either. This is what happens when people decide the best way to sell their game is to try and get as much bad PR as possible. That way people will be lured in by the hype surrounding the game... can it be -that- offensive? Does it really promote drug use? Wow, I can be a rebel if I buy Narc...
This game is competitng with BMXXX for the title of "most immature mature game"...

The game is absolutely HORRIBLE. The music is terrible and ripping from PASSED pop culture rap. The gameplay is lame, the graphics are very average. The aiming system needs work and the direction given to the player needs to be upped a bit, b/c in many areas it's not very obvious in regards to where you need to go/what you need to do.
The NES/Arcade game was great, should have left it at that.

I was wondering the same thing. I would vote, but I'm not familiar with the "new version".

sorry for the confusion, but i'm talking about the remake. the originally is pure gold and i wish there were more games like it.
(heh, imagine of they made one targetting illegal downloads, and you go around shooting dvd bootleggers?)

There's a PC game called "Crime Wave" which is a nice rip-off of NARC.

I hate to quote X-Play, but as they said, if you're going to make a game that creates a huge controversy and makes parent groups and politicians whine AT LEAST make it good.

Yeah, that game brings back some happy childhood memories-- my little brother and I spent an entire summer pretty much following this pattern: "wake up, breakfast, head to swimming at the Y, down to neighboorhhod deli for popsicles and playing NARC, then to park, return home".
Sometimes I still get the "enter your initals/high score" music stuck in my head. "OH no the NARCs, man! Oh no, the NARCs man! OH NONONONO NO THE" arrgh make it stop.
