I got a game for Xmas that I want to exchange, and I figure it pays to have a backup idea or two in case they don't have Super Monkey Ball 2 in stock.

I was thinking of getting EA's Two Towers - which version (Xbox, PS2, Gamecube) is best? Anybody have any opinions? Use whatever criteria you want (*except* console bias).

I did a quick search on Game Rankings and the Gamecube version has the best overall rating so far (slightly over PS2, both a good 5 points better than Xbox), but that means little to me. I wanna know what *you* think.

Theres 2 versions. One made by Black Label games, and one made by EA games.

I rented the PS2 Version and would recommend it. I think that all versions are the same or close. Also don't confuse the Two Towers with the LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring game that is available on the XBOX and PS2 which sucks ass.

it all boils down to which controller you prefer. all three games are exactly the same as far as content, number of levels, etc. the xbox one looks a tiny bit better, but all three versions are really very, very impressive... :D

usually, next-gen cross-platform games are similar or exactly the same (as far as gameplay- some xbox games get a graphic bump-up), unless there's a long enough lead time to add new content (wreckless for the xbox vs. wreckless for the ps2, or the easier version of dead to rights for the ps2 come to mind).

@GeelW: My controller of choice depends on the game :) But from what I've read the PS controller sounds best, so I'm leaning towards that one.

@GenesisNES: Thanks - I updated my post to reflect that. I had forgotten about the dual licensing (one for the books, one for the movies, this one being EAs version based on the movies).

@Stark: Don't worry - I've heard about the Fellowship dogs :)
