Apparently Windows boxes just can't handle it.

Windows fans, form a line to my right for flames! Mac fans, form a line to my left for high fives!

I thought this was old news? I heard this about a year ago and their reasoning was in part to try to curb the piracy since xbox is like a kid in a candy store with all the emulation and playing of backups w/o a mod-chip or swap.

Dude, that's because the Xbox 360 is using what kind of a processor?
Custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU - 3 symmetrical cores at 3.2 GHz
This is a PPC core simular to a G5.
What is Microsoft using to emulate the X360? G5's. Let's check the article:
"We purchased a number of Apple G5's because very specific hardware components of the G5 allow developers to emulate some of the technology behind future Xbox products and services..."
And the article even confirms what I said about the hardware is true:
"The new console from Microsoft is based on a similar IBM PowerPC architecture used in Apple computers--the Xbox 360 uses three 3.2GHz symmetrical cores, according to the company. Apple has been using PowerPC chips since 1994 and Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs has said the company is happy with IBM's PowerPC family of chips."
If Microsoft made a deal with Intel or AMD you can bet that they'd be using PC's, simular to Xbox. But they're using PowerPC technology from IBM, which just so happened to be what Apple uses.
But, whatever makes you feel better at owning the worst gaming platform in existance. ;)

Seriously, my 32X is a far better gaming platform than a Mac.

Well, if the xbox360 sdk only works on macs then that would be a big plus for ms. since the current sdk is as common as cheese which has really kickstarted the homebrew scene. Although i really wish for an xbmc on the 360, that would just pure own.
