Wrote this for another forum I frequent, it's not a very good review, just wanted to share. :)

I bought this game at PSP Launch, and it is AMAZING for a handheld game.

The graphics are excellent, much better than the DS' version. I still can't believe this is a handheld game, in some ways the graphics look even better than most PS1 games. There is also a nice blur effect when you use nitrous. ;)

Another great thing about Ridge Racer is the soundtrack. The game has a fast, but relaxing techno and pop soundtrack. When you are driving throughout the courses, the screeching sounds made when you hit the brakes or make a drift is a nice feature as well.

The gameplay is top-notch too, and the controls work almost flawlessly. The drifting feature can take quite a while to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, it gets to be very fun to use.

The level design is nice too, although some of the courses seem a little tedious after a while. The game isn't very challenging, I usually get in 1st place by the time the third lap starts. Some courses are harder than others, but for the most part it is easy and simple.

Overall, it is a fun and beautiful game, and if you own a PSP, I highly recommend purchasing Ridge Racer.
