It's a GREAT company with reliable fast shipping and great prices. I have bought alot of great games and systems from them. They are usually MINT or Near Mint.
Good stuff!

EMS shipping is expensive as hell, but its fast.
I bought a used DC system, spent $70, not something I'm willing or able to loose. (usually my first purchase is tiny, just in case).
Good service, pretty fast, and I like their web site.

Quick question for you all,
What exactly is EMS shipping? I know that it's expensive and fast, but is it pretty much the way to ship items from Japan? Does JapanGameStock give you a choice to ship another way? If so, is that not a recommended thing to do? And when a game arrives that is shipped by EMS, do you have to be there to sign for it?
Sorry for the barrage of questions, but I've been very tempted to buy from these guys, and I was just curious about the things above.
Thanks!

EMS is express mail, 2-3 days with insurance and tracking.
I tend to use EMS most of the time, but for $20 or less I'd use airmail. I have never had a problem with airmail for 20 or so transactions. If you are in the US you'll have to sign for it or take the slip they leave to the PO.
It's about $12 for one CD shipped via EMS or $6 airmail.

If I remember correctly, airmail is sometimes referred to as SAL. If correct (can someone confirm?), you might look for a SAL option, and not worry about it being slow like surface mail can be.

Too bad they don't seem to have many complete Famicom disk games

Thanks for the information!
Funk Buddy, you mention that airmail would be recommended for purchases $20 and below ... is this because airmail is sketchy as is and $20 isn't that big of a loss? If so, what exactly makes airmail so sketchy, just the fact that it isn't insured? Just curious, thanks again!

Yeah airmail is not insured, and the waiting time = eons.

actually, airmail from japan ranges from 4-10 days (average of 4-5 for me in nyc). it's great for one or a few less expensive games sent via padded envelope. you'll DEFINITELY want ems for consoles, expensive games or anything bulk. speaking of bulk, try to buy enough stuff to justify the cost, lol. paying $12 EMS for one game is insane, but paying $18-$21 for a bunch of stuff you bought cheap makes up for it in terms of how fast it arrives.
some people bitch their hair off about paying for EMS on cheap games, but look at it this way. when that new saturn game you got for $3 was released, it cost 5800 yen (about $58-$60 or so). if you get 5 or 6 games at that price and have to pay $18 for EMS, it's still a bargain in a way...

Do you any of you guys know if the package usually gets stoped at customs? 8-)

it depends on what country it's going to. i think most parcel airmail goes through some sort of screening process enroute without opening the package. but check with your post office where you are (spain?) and see what's what.

Wow... sorry I missed this. SAL is not the same as Airmail, SAL is surface.

In the US it depends on the state you live in and how it's shipped (in my experience). If it comes from the post office you don't have to worry. If it's UPS or FedEx you may, again depending on your states laws and the value of the package.

Not true. SAL stands for "Surface Air Lift", and basically, it's sent by air-mail from Japan, and then by surface within your own country. Kind of a half-way house, but MUCH faster than sea-mail surface shipping.

Sorry, I was mistaken... I thought surface was SAL. I wonder why it's cheaper than Airmail since it seems to be the same?

For the record I'm a big Airmail advocator since I rarely buy anything that runs me over $100.
Even when it ran me in the 60 range, I have enough trust in airmail.
Airmail as stated earlier does range from 4-10 days, and for the record I'm like 50 for 50 on airmail... never lost a package *knock on wood*
I just bought two Mega CD games from Japan Game Stock. Even after the expensive EMS shipping I got a much better deal than what I’ve seen the same games go for on eBay. They quickly arrived in awesome condition, I couldn’t have hoped for better quality than what I received. I’m happy with my purchase from them.

Just wondering if anyone knows if you can pay with a money order on JapanGameStock? I looked around on their site a bit but couldn't find out.

when i ordered my SFC from japangamestock it was a few bucks less to ship it EMS than AirMail...it seemsto a point air mail is cheaper but when you get a bunch of things and gets heavier it'll be cheaper to ship EMS
i think it was $50 for EMS and $62 for AirMail to ship a Superfamicom box with everything, 1 boxed game , (Gundam F91), and 1 loose game (battle dodgeball)

If you want seriously collect japanese systems and games, shipping cost can't be a problem, because it's really expensive and there is nothing that we can do, or you can wait some years until any american guy put an rare japanese system or game for sale that will cost more than from japanese hands but with cheap shipping
I always choose airmail for packages less 2kg, I don't care about receive package in the same week or same day, I care about 10 or more bucks that I can save using airmail

I've used them. Got my FC AND FDS AC Adaptors. I also just used airmail:)

Sorry to revive this thread, but I've been thinking about buying from JGS, and I don't really know how their payment system works. Is it that I confirm my order, then pay on the next screen? And I think they take PayPal... but I'm honestly not 100% sure. Do they?

I ordered from them a while back. It came quickly but the ordering system is a bit strange. After checking out and opting for credit card, you'll have to wait for an email from JGS. Don't think there was a confirmation page or anything. In the email, JGS will give you a link to a 3rd party credit vendor in which you will pay.

I'll say thumbs up on (JGS) it's a shame they got screwed by paypal.
Still at least they take payments by credit card still and ipmo.
I just order a famicom cart from "them a while ago it, shouldn't take long to get here since it's ems.
I've done business with them... in the past and there service is good.
Still if paying them for ems on shipping bothers you try airmail.
I've found it takes "two weeks" to get here where am at when useing that.

Basically, Paypal decided to freeze their account so they couldn't recieve payment on orders, meaning they couldn't ship any orders, and could only issue a refund if the buyer filed a claim. They opened a second account in an attempt to skirt around this and that got frozen after a day or two.
I ended up waiting nearly a month for my Famicom :bawling: but it got here just fine once my payment went through. I haven't bought anything from them since but that's entirely because I'm loathe to use my credit card too much.
They were very open about the whole thing, though. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. :)
