I like lobbing shells at opponents. I liked it in Scorched Earth and Worms. I like it in Steel Battalion: LOC. I want to fire artillery all day long.

So what other games let you deal the indirect-fire pain with mortar, howitzer, hell, even the catapult?

I doubt this will suit the bill, but the old Warhammer PC game, Shadow of the Horned Rat had some nice artillary once you got the dwarves. I just remember it being so satisfying to land a hit right in the middle of a unit of orcs. It was really inaccurate, but when it worked, it was devastating.

More of memory that you evoked from me than a recommendation.

You know Dawn of War is a brand new Warhammer game right?

Anyhow, I LOVED the mortar in Army Men on the 64. It made the battle mode worth playing to me, you can see the target on the oppenents screen though, which can be a good thing sometimes...if you can distract them while you home in.

I like the artillery in Tiberian Sun. Completely over powered.

Rampart

Me and my brother would spend hours, knocking down each other's castle walls. I loved how the projectiles would arc in flight and then smash the walls upon impact!

Ahh Scorched Earth, one of the great shareware games from
a time when shareware still had a market. I remember we
had installed it on all the PCs at school and would have slug
fests with 6 or more guys.

Rampart is really quite an awesome game. Its one of the
games I've rediscovered on the Midway Treasures. Its
too bad that the game has such crap control on the PS2.
It really needs a mouse or trakball. I downloaded the old PC
version to give a spin, runs fine under XP and the mouse
let me last much longer against the computer but for
multiplayer the mouse was just too much of an advantage.
