I actually like the design better than the Xbox 360, it would fit nicely with my Home Theate ... and now it seems that the PS3 will have the same multimedia capabilities - this is really becoming interesting.

Me want Revolution !!!

Hopefully we'll get to have the choice of colors.
I really don't like white electronics.
Woodgrain or bust, baby!

That looks like something out of the not-too-distant future.

I agree, SS, gimme woodgrain anytime! ;)

is that a controller or a boomerang? I think it is atrocious. I like the console though. I think this might be a mock-up.

That bottom pic of the PS3 kinda reminds me of the Turbo Duo. I don't know about those boomerang controllers though. Are they wireless?

whats the point of making the controller look like a boomerang?it seems as if they felt they needed to finally alter the look of it so they went that route.

The system itself looks like something outta Star trek. The controller is to much like a boomerang and doesn't look too comfortable to hold.

Bluetooth - up to 7 controllers can be connected wirelessly.

No I don't think they are mockups, just concept pics. They're also on Ign.com. The controllers look like you can hurt someone with them.

What the hell is that controller the batterang!!!! Dual shock????

I personally perfer a ejected disk tray vs the grab the disk type. But it looks good.

the way the new xbox and this look is very sleak. they look like a fancy stereo or something that someone would have in their office to look impressive.very sharper image looking.i sort of like my systems looking kind of like the original nintendo or even the famicom.

For everyone who wanted to be Batman...

7 controllers? Via bluetooth? You mean Sony actually realized that multiplayer out of the box is good? Maybe the world is coming to an end.

Looks like a cheap third party knockoff of a Dual Shock.

Holy crap, that controller looks like shit. Even worse than the XBox 360 controller.

The system doesn't look too bad, but the rounded top won't do us collectors any favors. I like the flat top of the PS2 because I can stack another system on top of it (and if Sony has problems with the idea of us owning more than one console, I should point out that I have a PlayStation on top of my PS2. :P )

Anyone else recognize the font on the PS3?

The system looks like a car stereo amp or something. Weird.

It does kindof look like the Turbo Duo a little bit.

I need to see it in relation to something else. It looks kinda big.

The controller is a straight up joke as far as I'm concerned!

The fact that it's backwards compatible all the way to the PS1 is pretty cool.

The slot-loading idea isn't bad, provided Sony did think of including the pinhair hole for emergency ejecting (anyone who's had a slot-loading iMac woud know what I'm talking about).

And the font is the Spiderman movie font... considering that the Spidey movies were released by Sony Pictures and that Spider-Man 2 was a limited-time bundled movie with the PSP, I'm not surprised.

James

Over hyped specs as usual, nice looking system although I've never liked slot loading disc trays as they can get jammed and can cause disc damage.

That is definately the worst controller in gaming history, move over Dreamcast you're no longer the worst.

Richter

it's same one used in the title of the Spider-Man flicks

Well my first opinion is that the ps3 looks decent but I hope that's not the final look to it,

Definitly don't like the controller it looks hidious, I would really be hating to get that the controller especially since it probaly wouldn't be that comfortable.

o well we will see.

but so far not a good impression of the look, though the specs are awesome i am very impressed as well the chance of a laptop hard drive on launch that would rock. so far specs coinside with my thoughts of how it will do alot better than the xbox 360 but than again that's just my opinion. we will see. I just am looking forward to what the final design of the ps3

one other thing seems like with the specs of both systems so far, looking really forward to see the new system for nintendo and go from there.

Woodgrain or bust, baby!

Yeah, if Sony does release different colors that would be so great. Even though I don't like Sony, they do so many things right. And do the things that gamers pretty much want most.

Thank you Sony for including PSone compatibility. I was really hoping for that. But where can I plug in my PS1/2 controllers and memory cards? You want me to buy a USB adaptor for those? Damn't. (Note, just my thinking).

Overall, I'm alot more excited for the PS3 than the 360, even though the PS3 looks like shit and uses the Spidey font.

Now its Nintendo's turn. Everybody's eyes will be on them. Let's see this "revolution" (crosses fingers).

White electronics are teh rule, poo on woodgrain :P

I actually really like the look of the console, it's definitely a different direction in Sony design compared to what they've done previously.

I can't say that I like the controller, but I'll reserve judgement until I've actually held the thing in my hands. It's entirely possible that they'll change it even after launch though, just like the Xbox did.

White PS3 next to White 360 on White Phillips Flat Panel

It looks good. I wonder which part on there is going to break first?

05-17-2005, 09:46 AM
These controllers are looking funny because they still are going to have the rumble features in them and we still need a place to dump in all the batteries.

DUH! :P

The PS3 will launch and i'd still more than likely get the black one while talking about all the other colors. Unless I get one that will match my PSP because it will be all cool to have matching systems (like with the Cube and GBAsp)

That is the worst looking controller I've seen since the days of the original PSX. It reminds me of a thinner version of the old & retired Interact Barracuda controller for the PSX that Oobgarm & I used to mock relentlessly @ Funco back then. Anybody else remember that thing? I wish i could find a picture of that thing to show off.

Immutable

Let me guess. The controller was developed in Australia. Heh.

05-17-2005, 12:07 PM
The PS3 doesn't look too bad at all. I really like the black one. I wish they didn't change the controller though. The Dualshock was perfect as is.

That thing has some serious power under the hood! I also love the fact that you can play PS1 & PS2 games on it, a very nice touch.

I'll bet that Sony gets so much bad feedback about the controller, that they will swiftly offer a standard DualShock version.
It's the one thing gamers are going to bitch about most.

Question Does the grab cd system scratch disks????

It shouldn't. I had a Sony car CD player that had that sort of system and it worked wonderfully.

That having been said, knowing Sony's first round of hardware, it very well could scratch discs...

That pretty much sums up my thoughts. I hope Sony redesigns the controller. That thing makes the N64 controller look good.

I think I know what's going on. :)

See, I never liked the Dual Shock. By unveiling a controller that is worse, they want to get me and others who don't like it either to appreciate the DS. Then, when they release a different controller that is just like the DS, we'll be relieved that we won't have to use the boomerang. That relief will cloud what would have been disappointment at having to use another DS. Of course, those who do like the DS will feel right at home.

Does anyone have a picture of the back of the controller so I could see the other triggers? I want to see if they've finally decided to include analog triggers that feel like they are analog. I understand that the buttons on the DS are analog, but they don't "feel" analog the way the triggers on the Dreamcast, Xbox, and Gamecube controllers do.
