You may remember the first arcade video game you played, but do you remember where?
As best as I can remember, it was at a place called Burger Hut along Route 6. The game was, of course, Pong.

The first arcade game I played was Galaga. I was inside my mother's vagina. I was six.

It was either at a boardwalk arcade on the Jersey shore or a local Drug Fair. Now if I can only remember which game it was... heh.

It was either at a boardwalk arcade on the Jersey shore :rocker: ...or a local Candy Store...
Also: if I can only remember which game it was too... :)

Funny thing is, I think that place is still there, albeit under a different name. After at least 30 years.

First place I can remember playing arcade games is a long-gone restaurant named Connie's Pizza. They had a Super Pac-Man (still my favorite Pac-Man) and a cocktail Donkey Kong (or whatever the Hell you call arcade cabs that double as tables)

The very first arcade game I remember playing was Donkey Kong, although I probably played others before it. It was at a Red Rooster convienience store that we kind of hung out at. I would have been about 10, so I know that I have played other games before DK, but thats the game I remember playing the most.

Local roller skating rink had a small "arcade" up front. Mostly mechanical games and a Pachinko machine or two. And then, one day, they got a Computer Space. :eek 2: How a rinky-dinky roller rink in a two-bit Kentucky backwater town got one of those early games, I'll never know. But I spent my entire "roller skating" funds on that machine (along with my little brother).
I still find it bizarre that I played Computer Space many months before I even SAW a Pong machine.

Oh, man... If I did, I'd have some sort of magical powers...
I never thought about it, though, and that's probably why I don't remember. It could've been at a Chuck E. Cheese's... It might've been at a skating rink, but I doubt it.
Jeez, why didn't Mom right this in her scrapbook?! LOL

The first arcade machine I can remember playing was a Pac-Man machine sitting in the play room in the Boston Children's Hospital. This was in the late '80s/early '90s, and I was there due to a burst appendix. There were also a couple of NESes (which we didn't have at home yet at that point; they were always occupied, so I almost never got to use them), as well as a pinball machine of some sort (don't remember the name). Both the Pac-Man machine and pinball machine were, of course, set for free play, so I spent plenty of time playing them. I wasn't very good at playing Pac-Man at the time, though I really had fun with the pinball machine.

Great thread.
I remember 3, actually, from between 86-88. Any of these could have been in any order, from any of these years, but I was between 5 and 7, whadya expect? :)
1. Super Mario Bros. - Vs. System. It was the sit down version at the local pizza hut in Hurricane.
2. Ms. Pac Man - Same Pizza Hut
3. Excitebike - Bowling alley in Winfield (hey Downfall!). This was on a stand up Vs. cab.
Let it be known that I have never played Pong, Asteroids, or Space Invaders on a real dedicated cab. :( Maybe one day....
There used to be a small amusement park in South Beach, Staten Island. There was a boat ride, a carousel, a wooden coaster, a Crazy Mouse, a ferris wheel, a mini Himalaya, and all of it was ancient. They had an arcade and pizza parlor there, and across the street was another arcade with a dark house and ski ball lanes. Both arcades were about the size of what you would find along the Atlantic City boardwalk today. The first arcade game I played was probably something like Ms. Pacman. They still have the machine in the arcade across the street, but the amusement park and other arcade are gone.

ROFL
Mine was Pong at the *underground* pinball arcade around the corner from my mom's house.
She used to send me to the corner store (which was right next door to *the gameroom*) for bread, milk, etc, and I would be allowed to play one game of pinball although the place was filled with a rowdy older crew that my mom didn't approve of - mostly because I was only 7 years old and also that it usually took me around an hour to finish my game, and I would have to run my ass all the way home at top speed and ALWAYS get yelled at by my mom in front of the entire neighborhood while trying to explain what a good game I had!
They had a jukebox too - 2 plays for a dime. I would always play FRANKENSTEIN on the jukebox right before I started my pinball game and they used to crank up the volume all the way and go crazy! My second jukebox choice was an Italian song and everybody would be so hyped up from hearing Frankenstein, they would dance and clap to the Italian song. Most of them were drunk and high but it was cool because they never bothered me. I used to walk in there and be *welcomed* because I had big enough balls to go in there, being that I was a little kid, and I was also a good player. I'm still a player...in more ways than one! Don't hate the player, hate the game!
Anyway, I still remember this older guy freaking out, smashing bottles and knocking over garbage cans in the street because I beat his score on Klondike/Yukon.
And rarely anyone played Pong!
Great memories from that place.

I hope you were in her uteris not her vagina, unless of course she was in labor, otherwise thats pretty sick.
I also hope you were six weeks or six months in pregnancy term not six otherwise it's even more sick.
I was there as well. My score was higher.
I don't even want to know what you were doing in his mothers vagina.
Anyway to address the true topic. It was at Alladdin's castle in Grand Junction, Co. My dad used to take me there when I was little and we would have a rowdy game of Atari X's and O's football .

The first time I ever even heard of video games was when I was around 4 or 5 and we got an Atari 2600. This had to have been around 82 or 83...Probably 82 (when I was 4).
I know we had COmbat , PacMan, Pitfall and a few others, but the first game I remember seeing is Pitfall (doesn't mean it was the first). I have no idea which game I played first.

What: Space Invaders
Where: Shakey's Pizza - Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Got my ass kicked and begged my mom like a dog for another quarter to try again. Twenty-seven years later and I'm still not that good at it :/

I guess I've mentioned this in another thread but here we go:
It was a shooter similar to 1942 and I played it in the restaurant of the camping site where I used to go with my parents as a kid. Me and my dad spend an uncountable amount of coins there since they kept the machine for several years. They've only changed it when I went there later as a teen. Funny thing is that I remembe a girl that was really good at the game (I was about 8 or 10 and she was maybe about 14 or 15), I still know the name she put in the highscore "Lesley Fair". I was really jealous because she was so much better than me...
