Umm... I take it this is not a regular "Oh shit" moment, but possibly a level higher... is this ACTUALLY coming to the US?

Ha ha. I knew this would get your attention. Apparently the controller is going to be redesigned. Could this mean no more sticky keys??? The news and whatnot is on the front page of Bemanistyle (http://www.bemanistyle.com) right now.
Preliminary screenshots:

And yes RetroYoungen, it appears that it actually is. My sources also tell me that it's roughly 28º F in Hell at the moment. This is going to kick tons of ass.

5 key and 7 key mode with seperate song lists...."redesigned controller at reasonable price"...
....I'm buying this day one. And starting a thread about it. I'm 99% sure it'll be just me and davebrit in the thread but I can dream damn you!!!
This is the most excited I have been about a new release in years.

Nice, I guess I'll be adding another Bemani title to my collection...

I normaly consider buying games at launch to be a waste. This is the exception to the rule.

I'm glad to see a Beatmania game finally come to the Us but I can't be the only one concerned. Us versions of Rhythm Action games are usually filled to the brim with horrible music. I will rip someone's head off if they put All Star in this game.
My next concern is the controller. Why redesign it? If it fixes the sticky keys problem, nice but I really hope they don't change the layout of the keys. Also, will they keep support for the official Jp controllers? I just fear we'll see a completely unusable controller design similar to some of the more "ambitious" third party controllers.
50 Songs? Sure, that's better than some games, but when there are 100+ on the Jp releases there is a long way to go. And why leave IIDX off of the name?
Still, I'll be picking it up if it's halfway decent. I just hope that there are some new songs that don't suck. I've got my finger's crossed that this won't be another Donkey Konga 2(us).

It's on the US Konami site, so yeah, it's coming here...
I just love Bemani (and other music/rhythm) games, so to see more of them is a good thing. And I think the North American market is more than ready for the true Bemani invasion... consider the popularity of the different Bemani games in arcades, and Konami's gotta realize that for home consoles, there's gotta be more than just DDR and Karaoke Revolution (yes, KR is part of the Bemani series).

I'm happy. Now maybe I can get good at it?
Also, looks like a Guitar Freaks clone will be made by Red Octane. This is pure awesome, so much for me needing to get an import PS2 (Well, I probably still will...)

Yeah, Guitar Hero is sounding pretty rad too. Here's the text of a press release regarding that game:

Using button combinations, sustains and the whammy bar,
Interesting...

I've never played or seen a Beatmania machine before. I'm just getting into the whole DDR and rhythm game scene though and from what I've heard so far, this game looks pretty awesome. Anything that uses a bitchin controller like that has got to be good. I'll definitely be getting this when it comes out.

There is 1 song fully confirmed and 2 from screenshots. Overblast!, PARANOiA MAX Dirty Mix, and in my eyes. You shouldn't have to worry too much.

I'm curious about this too, but I'm just anxious to be able to buy a controller without dropping 100 bucks.

Because it's not only IIDX. There will be 5-key and 7-key mode with songs exclusive to each mode.

It's interesting to see that they are mixing 5Key with 7Key. I originally thought they were just going to include the "fake" 5key. So yeah, that explains the absense of IIDX in the title.
Still, despite my reservations on the treatment of this title, I'll be keeping my eyes on it. I really never thought it would come to the Us. This is good news indeed.

Also, look at the first couple of DDR games to come to the US. The song selection on them was limited, but at least we got some DDR goodness in the US. Now we're getting pretty good quality releases.

Yup. I think 50 songs will be PLENTY for a "1st Mix". Donkey Konga and Taiko both had considerably fewer than that.
The fact that this will apparently have songs from the BM I series gives me a giant boner. I will so buy this at launch. And I already have every PS1 and PS2 version of Beatmania available to me. Heh.
