Well Xbox fans rejoice, looks like Konami is being fair.

Now if there only was a CastleVania on GameCube...oh well...

I assume that this is another 3D Castlevania a la Lament of Innocence? If so then no thanks.

Pretty much and just the fact it takes place 2 years after CastleVania 3 Dracula's Curse...Oh well

A new Castlevania game is always interesting, and Lament Of Innocence wasn't that bad. It was even really enjoyable for a 3D Castlevania game. Thanks good Konami didn't decide to make it first person view or something similar stupid.

In this game you play the role of one of Dracula's former monster forgers. The forger is out for revenge against another forger that worked for Dracula. That one killed/sacrificed the former forger's wife.

Play magazine had a nice, multiple page preview, interview, and artwork exposition on it.

I'm really looking forward to this new Castlevania. I enjoyed LoI a great deal. From what I have read so far, this new game should be even better.

I've lost track of all the Castlevania games.

I know there were a handful on the NES; Dracula X (Vampire's Kiss) on the Snes (Which I think is the second best one of the lot); a handful on various systems like the Turbo Duo; a couple on the PSone (SOTN being the best of the whole series); A load on various GameBoy systems; Two piss-poor ones on the N64... And that's where I started to get lost...

I just recently bought one on the PS2, but it is only called "Castlevania" - I had originally thought it was subtitled "Lament Of Innocence", but it apperas not. Is there more than one on the PS2, or is the one I got indeed "Lament Of Innocence"?

I think they should go back and continue where SOTN left off, and in the same style as well - None of this 3D BS...

Don't bash it until you've tried it, lol. Looks like they're adding a lot of new stuff. Well, I've yet to try LoI (or buy an XBox), so when it comes out for XBox I'll be all set, some years after it's released that is.

Yes, this is the Lament Of Innocence game. The European version is only called Castlevania but it's the same game as the US Lamment Of Innocence one.

LoI is a little bit of a let-down in terms of the Castlevania franchise. Symphony of the Night is still its shining moment. Why they haven't topped it yet is a mystery to me.

I'm looking foward to this one. Supposedly it's supposed to be more like SOTN since I think it has some of the same people behind it.

I didn't mind LOI that much, not as good as the 2D Castlevanias no, but still a decent game I thought.

LoI was pretty fun but one area that I hated was the stats system.....which were NO WAY growable except by about 5 points in you wore certain items. It's almost like they were going to implement a SOTN leveling system and then just said fuck it. Hopefully this one will come out nice and polished with a great system. Here's hoping this 3d castlevania will make everyone think differently about a non 2d castlevania.

Didn't want to make anew thread since this one was already made... I'm getting the final build of this game tomorrow. I'm very excited.

I can't wait to see how this adds to the Castlevania story.

I'll have images/preview up of it tomorrow.

I've seen in their recent circular that Game Crazy is advertising a soundtrack with pre-order. The only thing is, I've asked them about it and none of them have a clue what I'm talking about. No other game stores do, either.

Anyone know about it, or maybe even a place to download it? The soundtrack from LoI was excellent, and I hunger for more.

Check Gamestop.com, cause now they are offering the same soundtrack with pre-order of the game.

I've been playing the game for awhile now. It feels a LOT like LoI... it's really good though. The Innocent Devil system is awesome.

I'll post up in depth when I get home later... Music is excellent.

Well, this is already a good year for Castlevania with the spectacular release of Dawn of Sorrow! However, I am slightly more eager for this project. I felt that Lament of Innocence was rather underrated. Sure, I'll admit that the level designs were a bit lacking and the graphics unspectacular, but I loved just about everything else... actually, I also felt that it ended too quickly, but I am confident that CoD will improve on those flaws. I was fond of the high-action combat system, and I felt they were some of the most challenging boss fights in the series thus far! The battle against Death = OUCHIE. @_@

So I'm quite awaiting CoD to see if it delivers more great music, an awesome fighting system, even more bitching boss battles, and hopefully, more innovative level designs. CV is my favorite series on Earth, so I may be biased in prematurely declaring this the best Game of the Year 2005... we'll see.
