What is the name of the tv that was made just for videogames? It had two speakers that would close outside the screen.

You're thinking of the Samsung GXTV.

Here's one on ebay (NOT my auction, just an example)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15081&item=5774973318&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

It was a cool piece of kit when it first came out, but there are superior 13" flat tube and LCD TV's available now for far less than the GXTV cost when it was new.

Honestly, if you want a small TV, you can't beat a 20" Wega. It's got S-video in and monitor out so you can use an external amp and speakers (which you want, even if it's just a shelf system). You don't need component for games on any TV that isn't HDTV anyway, minimal difference.

They are pretty nice , my brother has one and I think I am going to talk him into giving it to me :)

Of course If I do , I will have 5 T.V. sets in my house @_@
Nothing cooler than my 19" Sharp combo NES television though 8-)

I just got one from my brother. He bought it at Funcoland I think it was 1997. It's a great TV with great sound.

Well, compared to a flat-tube or LCD panel set, they leave something to be desired.

I personally prefer standalone sound gear to any speakers attached to a television.

For very compact gaming however (all self contained) the GXTV is still a very good option, and now you can pick them up for peanuts.

I have mine in my gameroom w/ 6 systems on it.

Genesis, SNES, 7800, 800XL, Dreamcast, Playstation.

Sometimes I wish the screen was bigger, but it's ideal for multiple systems (tons of hookups on back).

That's the thing -- considering the current offering of gaming speaker sets (by companies such as Altec Lansing and Logitech), who needs a custom "gaming" TV?

I do, at least for some things that I can do with it.

It's my testing TV, much better then getting stuck in the tangled mess behind my main TV.

Also, for linking Playstations. So my friend and I can play doom.

It's also helpful when 2 people want to play different systems :)
