I got my Gamecube around the year it was released. With it came a pamphlet that advertised some games that were coming soon. All of the games on it got released. Except this one:

Guess there's something to add to the GameCube's empty Prototypes and One-of-a-Kinds!
I believe this didn't get very far in development. First of all, the ESRB says it is "Rating Pending," or RP. A game has to be within two months of release to get an ESRB rating, if I remember correctly. Another thing is that the screen shot looks like a mock-up. And noting the big Rareware logo to the bottom-right of the mock-up would probably mean the game got ditched shortly after Rare sold their soul to... I mean, got bought out by Microsoft.
So, does anyone know more about this game?

Until anything solid turns up, it would probably be better filed under 'Rumor Mill' rather than 'Protos & One of a Kinds'.

I believe they're still working on that game, or it's on hold for the Revolution, possibly.

After Rare was bought by Microsoft DK Racing became Sabreman Stampede (just like DK Coconut Crackers became It's Mr. Pants and Diddy Kong Pilot became Banjo Pilot) but there haven't been much info on that game either.

I found some information on a Rare fansite in Spanish. (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=www.mundorare.com%2Fjuegos%2Fstampede% 2Findex.html&langpair=es%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools) It's been translated by Google Translator, which means it has a bit of rearranged English. Anyway, looks like Sabreman is the star of one of Rare's early Spectrum games. And this section wasn't updated since '04, so don't expect recent news.
