Why? If vert shmups is what you're after, you're going to have to import. Plain and simple.

However, you did miss a few domestics. There's Rayforce and Raycrisis on PSX as well as Galactic Attack on Saturn which was really the first game in that series. There's also Strikers 1945 for the PSX (which is really the second game in that series.)

Off the top of my head, that's about all I can think of. I'm really not into pre-TG-16 shmups. Oh, if you have a TG-16 there's a few on that console you'll wanna pick up. Sorry though, you're really cheating yourself out of the best of the best if you don't go the import route.

Fishsandwich, he's looking for vertical shooters, not shooters in general.

And Captain Wrong is Right in this case. Avoiding Saturn imports when looking for good shooters is silly.

Anyway, just looking at my collection list and looking only at the systems you listed in your post, I spotted:

Atari 2600
Vanguard (both vertical and horizontal stages)

GBA
Iridion II
Namco Museum (for Galaga and Galaxian)

GBC
1942

NES
Tiger-Heli
Twin Cobra
Twin Eagle (which I don't like much)

PlayStation
Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection Vol. 1 (for Centipede)
Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection Vol. 2 (for Millipede)
Galaga: Destination Earth (both vertical and horizontal stages)
Namco Museum Vol. 1 (for Galaga)
Namco Museum Vol. 2 (for Xevious and Gaplus, aka Galaga 3)
Namco Museum Vol. 3 (for Galaxian)
Namco Museum Vol. 5 (for Dragon Spirit)
Philosoma (vertical, horizontal, and other stages)
The Raiden Project
Space Invaders
Xevious 3D/G+

Android Assault

Lords of Thunder
Novastorm
Robo Aleste
SoulStar
Slipheed
Sol-Feace (pack-in game)
StarBlade

Are there any more Sega CD shooters I left out?

Whoops! You're right! I saw "shooters" and I got all excited. Sorry about that! A lot of the shooters I listed ARE vertical, but a bunch are horizontal and I'm too lazy and unimformed to edit them down.

I feel so very bad. :embarrassed:

Check out Aero Fighters for Snes. It may be very rare and expensive but with a fantastic 2 player option, random level selection(depending on which country you choose) and 12 possible endings. You'll sure as hell get your money's worth. Believe me on that. :D

Biggest understatement ever. Paying 7/12 bucks to ship a game via AirMail/EMS is a SMALL price to pay for the goodness you will receive.

The Japanese Shmup scene is where you want to be for all shoooters. Arguablely three best vertical shooters ever made are import only on the Saturn (and PSX for the second two)

Radiant Silvergun
DoDonPachi
Soukyugurentai Otokuyo

Not to mention unique verticals like Twinkle Star Sprites (Saturn version is the way to go), Kingdom Grand Prix, and The Game Paradise; you're crazy to avoid import verts.

EDIT: May as well recommend some good/excellent US verts which are strangly absent from your collection ;)

Genesis

Grind Stormer
Truxton (aka Tatsujin)
Musha
Raiden Triad
Phelios

Master System

Bomber Raid
Power Strike
Power Strike II (well, it's in English anyway) ;)

PC Engine

Blazing Lazers (aka GunHed)
Super Star Soldier

Mars Matrix, Gunbird II, both GigaWings for the Dreamcast.

I recommend

Raiden project PSX (Raiden 1 and 2 with nifty new features)

Raiden DX PSX (Raiden 2 remixed - great game)

and

Xevious 3D/G+ PSX (Has the old 3 xeviouses, xevious, super xevious and xevious arrangement along with the outstanding Xevious 3d :) )

Life Force is HALF vertical, if that counts.

You don't necessarily have to be the person who imports the imported games, ya know?

Ever been to the websites of any stores that sell import games?

How about US ebay sellers that are selling imported titles?

I don't generally buy from Japanese sellers either just because of the outrageous shipping, but I still buy plenty of imports from US people.

If it's newer stuff, just order from NCSX or whatever.

Regardless, buy O N L I N E.

I've got the following:

PSX
Gekioh: Shooting King (complete, mint)

Genesis
Sagaia (cart only)
Thunder Force 2 (cart only)
Operation: Vapor Trail (import, but can be played on all US genny systems with some simple modifications. Complete, mint)

Interested in any of them?
