I have a broken DVD player that has a bad power supply, but I think the rest of it works. Im not going to bother trying to fix it, but I was wondering if the DVD drive could be used in, say, an Xbox or PS2. Perhaps the drives are totally incompatible, but I really have no idea. It would be nice if I could use it.

sometimes.
a set number of manufacturers make drives for diffrent end product manufacturers. however theres that many end products any one drive is probably interchangable with maybe 3 to four products.
less so in consoles as they are usualy redisigned to fit in a smaller environment.
with a service manual to both the console and the drive an interface would usualy be makeable.

Xbox - No - customer power connector, custom firmware
PS2 - No- you cannot even swap drive optics from one PS2 to another most of the time, due to the 10 different variations in the old style PS2 alone.
