Hey gang....
I'm in need of help.
I'm on my third copy of genesis grind stormer.
I really don't know what happens.
The first copy, I bought from a trusted source, and it was DOA.
He was willing to exchange it; the second copy was also DOA. the third worked, and made it home, and worked at home......
UNTIL NOW.
I take it out of my genesis bin tonight...and it's bogus. I tried replacing the capacitor on the offchance that it was repairable; no go.
I don't know what the hell is with grind stormers...
So here's my pickle.
I need to buy a copy of grind stormer from somebody, that works. In ANY condition. I want it loose preferrrably; and since I have a good label here, I don't even care about the label. I have ONE simple condition. It's got to WORK. If you insist on a trade, I may be able to work with you on that. I just really, really want to play grind stormer again....really.
Can anyone help me?!

Sorry to hear you're having such trouble with this game. It's a damn fun shooter and being that it's a tengen game, I can understand it's quirkiness. It's frozen on me a couple of times but the last few I've played it, it was fine. I ALWAYS have problems with Tengen games. Don't know what it is. Hope you get another copy soon ;D.

I saw this the other day at my local gamestore. If you want it I'll pick it up for you at cost ($6.00). I'll test it as well, but they test and guarantee all their games for 90 days.

It's loose by the way.

I've had a couple dead ones myself. I thought it was just a fluke but maybe part of the pressing was bad?

it has to be the rom chips.
The capacitor on the board is fine; i tried replacing that.
How tengen got the rights to a Toaplan game, I don't know..but it sucks.
Oh, and PMs being sent.

uh, no.
There's now KNOWN issues with this game. I'm almost considering giving up on a legit cart, and having someone burn an EEProm for the game, desoldering the legit rom, and soldering in the EEProm.
Shit. on that note, anyone here have the skillz to do that?

update: Due to the high occurrence of bad carts, i am going to go through all the trouble and bother to have a new PROM burned and solder that into a circuit board. It'll probably work out better in the long run....emulation and roms did me one good turn for once.

You should buy a tototek.com MDPRO flash cart. You can write the genesis/32x games to it, and play them on real hardware ....youŽll avoid many future problems :)

Someone recently emailed about this very problem. He actually got his dead cart working.

I bought a copy of Grindstromer from my local Gamecrazy only to find out that it was from the batch of bad carts that Tengen initially released. I really liked the game until it locked up around stage two. Seeing as I had nothing to loose (and much to gain), I decided to do a board swap with Out of this World; it has a Sega made PCB that is the same configuration as Grindstormer. I took out the Dremell, iron, and solder and got to work. I haven't had much soldering experience, but this project certainly helped my aptitude! After some careful bending and soldering I plugged the finished Frankencart into my Genesis and it worked! No more lockups!!! So, Tengen must have either fudged the design of their PCB or used poor quality resistors. I wouldn't doubt poor quality, even the ROM is plastic when it should be ceramic. Hopefully I didn't damage the ROM during my soldering!
