Went to see Star Wars, and enjoyed it far more then I expected, and Hoyts and Nintendo have a DS competition
going, so I now have a couple popcorn boxes with DS units
on them, and a couple competition numbers I need to SMS
in to see if I've won.. wahey.

At the EB afterward:
PS2 Sub Rebellion, $AUS15
PS2 Tenchu, $AUS15
2 packs of Animal Crossing e-reader cards, 95c each
1 Donkey Kong e-reader card pack, $AUS2

and the rest of today shall be Megadrive day, so say we all, or at least me.

Damn, I wanted to start this thread...

Anyways, I didn't do too badly thus far.

EB Games
Lifeline (PS2, complete) - $5.39

Yard Sales
Bourne Identity - Special Edition (DVD) - $4
SNES Model 1 (with 2 controllers, RF and power plug) - $5
Battletoads, Bionic Commando, Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf, and Star Wars (NES, loose) - 50 cents each
NES Advantage (loose) - $1
NES Power Pad (loose) - $1
Viewpoint (PS1, longbox, complete) - $2

I got into a shouting match with another adult over the SNES. I was reaching into my wallet to count my cash and he grabbed it off the top of my goodie pile, so I grabbed it back. After a little tugging, I won out. Ironically, this is the fourth SNES I own now, but it was the principal involved...

And my favorite yard sale find of the day...

Intelligent Qube (PS1, complete) - $2 X_x

I almost peed my pants since the only other time I've seen this game was at Gamestop for $35...

At any rate, not a bad day. Anybody want to trade a clean, non-yellowed complete SNES Model 1 for an equivalent Sega Saturn?

I got...

Intellivision Console with Manual - .25 :D

Pac-Man (Namco Version) - NES - 2.50
Silent Assault - NES - 2.50
Miracle Piano Cart - NES - 2.50

The guy that I bought the Miracle Piano cart from told me that last week he had the piano and cords for it, but sold it for 25.00 to some kid. :eek 2: :(

Damn, foiled again!

Ok my haul, late birthday presents mainly. Bought with the moneys i had.

http://img30.echo.cx/img30/9890/dscn07249ma.jpg

Wipeout Fision £5.99
San Andreas £14.99
Xbox arcade stick £14.99
Deux EX £4 (yes)

The deus ex is a funny story, I was in dixons and saw club football arsenal 2005 on for £3.. Thinking it was cheap and it was a game at the end of the day i would try and trade it in at game and see if i could make a few pounds... Otherwise a game is a game.

Went down to GAME. Showed it to the assistant and he offered me £6, although at first he thought i had stole it LOL since it was still wrapped. After he had scanned it i put hte price tag on it and started laughing at him. But the ass wanted teh receipet. showed it to him and earned £3 on it. Went to the preowned games section and picked up deus ex which i got for £4.99 after the discount. It wasnt really the £3 i cared about it was shaming up GAME. They really piss me off thinking they are know-it-alls. Anyway i bought my game and they called me smart for a kid LOL . That was the highlight of my day.

Xbox arcade stick was in toys r us. A suprise really. didnt think id find it in town. Also £5 cheaper than the one i saw in gamestation once.

My first good find in a while was at Goodwill today. We were dropping stuff off in the back and noticed a mountain of stuff (I guess everyone was spring cleaning). Anyway, I spot a bag with a CIB Genesis 2 in it and what appears to be a bunch of sports games. Knowing that I needed an American box to replace my Canadian one we asked the guy if he would sell it to us. He asked for $15 and I said sure. So I'm happy that I finally got a good box for myself and I figure I could make most of the money back on the system and the games. When I get home, I'm going through the stuff and notice something strange about one of the sports games. I take a closer look and its none other than John Madden Football '93 Championship Edition complete :) Needless to say, I'm happy that I took the ride 8-)

Nice finds at the flea Videogamerdaryll. Dropped by the goodwill earlier on the way to return a broken trash can to bed, bath, & beyond (wifeys idea). Oh well, at the goodwill I did happen to find a 52-In-1 NES Supervision cart. Its in pretty rough shape, but I couldnt pass it up. Even when I paid for it the woman charged me $0.49 instead of the usual $2.99. She DID NOT want to sell it for that, but thats what the manager told her to sell it for when she asked her how much they cost. They also had a NES Baseball Stars cart, but it had some serious label wear. Oh well, I'm happy with my little find, even though the previous owner apparently enjoyed drawing in ink pen on its label

To be honest I don't have the room either. I had to put it in storage for now.

This is the first standee I've found and I almost passed on it because of the lack of space.

Wasn't even planning on going to the dirt mall today, but I decided to go on a whim (and to avoid yard work). Glad I did, cause I picked up some good stuff.
http://www.rydia.net/joshnickerson/dp/wke0521.jpg

SNES (ranged from 4-6 bucks each)
Yoshi's Cookie
Tinstar (I love this game so far! It's incredibly weird)
Rocko's Modern Life (I think the only SNES Nick game that DIDN'T suck)
Kirby's Dream Course (I've never seen this out in the wild before)

NES (3 bucks each)
Mystery Quest
Fantasy Zone

And I picked up some happy meal toys for a quarter each, two Barnstormer LCD games and a Spongebob toy (Gary rules!)

That doesn't look like a Supervision 52 in 1. But anyway nice find. I love multicarts. I had a chance to buy a few multicarts, but I only buy ones with more games than my multicart has. I have a 72 in 1 and I think a 52 in 1. If anyone has any multicarts with more than 72 different games on it let me know.

Now on to my finds:

Went in to Gamestop on the off chance they had a Sega Genesis TV hookup. I didn't see any so I asked because I know they stopped carrying Genesis stuff years ago. So I ask if they have an A/V cable and the lady goes in the back room and says "No sorry we only have the RF cable" and I go how much? and she throws it to me. Free.

So today I am going to my old neighborhood to a new Salvation Army. Well it's probably not that new, but I haven't been to that neighborhood in years. On the way I hit up a few garage sales. I don't always stop at them for some reason and this is proof I should.

I picked up a boxed Microvision with Block Buster for $1. :)

Today I decided to hit up a few Gamecrazys that I haven't been to. Had to do a bit of driving, but here is what I got today.

http://members.cox.net/clayk/find.jpg

For NES I found

Felix the Cat with instructions
Flintstones-Surprise at Dino Peak-I already have a copy of this, but I couldn't not get it.
Pro Sport Hockey with instrtuctions-I already had a copy with a box, but there is a rental sticker right on the label. This now gives me one in good shape, and I now have it complete.
Motor City Patrol
Nobunaga's Ambition
Rollerblade Racer with instructions

SNES
Skyblazer

Genesis
Herzog Zwei

Not a bad day if I say so myself.

Went by a Video Time that is liquidating all of its games and stuff.

Lost kingdoms 2-GC-$13

Tail of the Sun-PS1-$6

There were a couple of other R7 games there, but didnt realize it until I got home and actually checked. I bought a copy of Beyond the Beyond, but Im going to return it (its missing EVERYTHING) and nab those R7s.

I just grabbed Tail of the Sun because it sounded awsome. There were like 200 PS1 games, so for me to pick one of 2 R7 titles.... :eek 2: I feel very lucky to day the least.

Can you please post a picture of the receipt for Flintstones from Gamecrazy. It's just that you are the 2nd person in a week to find this game at a 3 for 15 sale in one of their stores.. I talked to 6 managers at 6 different gamecrazy stores and they all gave me the same story that the game is not in their system at any one of the 700+ stores and if it is, they have DO NOT RE-SELL policy on that game. Just curious how everyone is suddenly finding that game, especially considering its rarity and 4.99 price tag. I believe you, but I don't follow the conflicting stories, so someone is wrong and/or lieing (probably GC ee's). Please post a receipt, I wouldn't mind seeing the price you paid for it and proof that it actually was bought in a GC store. Thanks in advance.

Anything is possible at GC, as I got Tournament Fighters for NES today for $4.99, BUT, the managers have not "blacklisted" the game as they have Stadium Events, Flintstones, and several others.

Clay, thanks man, I never doubted you, but now with the proof, you show what f*** a$$es the GC ee's have become. Now I know the managers at GC are liars and make up shit when they don't know the answer. Just like when I call and ask what systems the 3 for 15 sale covers. Every time I call, I get the response, "all the classics" or "the old school stuff".. that is such a stupid response. Just like today some guy told me that Road Rash II has been blacklisted. I thought I could come up with random bullshit, but man, I can't even begin to understand these lies and fibs that some of the GC ee's tell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't hate GC - it's 100 of times better than any other game store, but man, this really ticks me..

Clay --- thanks again for the pic, I appreciate it much so!

Awesome, a long box RE! i wasnt aware of these!

Yup, the very first run of Resident Evil in the USA was in a plastic hard case long box. Inside is a lovely artwork scene once you remove the CD and the Manual from their places.

The longbox version is actually more common than the later released normal CD case version.

Anyway, after all these years, I finally got the Star Ocean: The Second Story Prima strategy guide today, thanks to DDCecil. :)

Why is everyone looking for Flintstones for NES?! Is it rare or something?! I see the other Flintstones game on eBay for like $4.

The cart sells for 60-100 on ebay and with a box and manual, it can fetch several hundred, as in 200-300+ in mint condition. Good luck finding it, because the 1st Flintstones is worth about a dollar and is very easy to find. The 2nd one was one of Taito's last games and was almost "exclusive" to video rentals in 1993-1994, so it is very limited in availability. Clay, having 2 nice copies is a very lucky man indeed (especially since 5.00 is an awesome deal)! I have 1 copy and have never seen one in the wild since then or before that.

Nothing special. I visited EB on the sole intention of buying Paper Mario: TTYD since the price drop. Instead of buying a new copy, I bought a "like new" copy that was actually in like new condition for $23.99. No curves, bends, or tears in the manual, disk is scratchless, and the plastic case is still shiny instead of being a finger print skating rink. However, I came out with more than I planned on buying. I also purchased Sunset Riders, and Demon's Crest, both loose for the SNES at $5.39 each.

I rarely ever come across boxed NES games. Complete Commodore 64 games? Sure. But Boxed NES games? Nope..

So, not sure how great a deal I got, but I walked in Goodwill yesterday and was happy to see some new electronics. Now, I still have my N64 from launch, but it doesn't always work too well... But yesterday, I found a Jungle Green N64 system with Expansion pack, Jungle Green controller, grey controller, and memory card... all in perfect condition... $20... very glad to pick it up, seeing as I've been needing an Expansion Pack and memory card... and controllers...

How did I do?

It's a little more than the average around here, but if you didn't already have one in good working order and are happy with it then don't worry, be happy :)

Picked up the following today:

PS2
GTA III
Killzone :)

Been wanting Killzone for awhile now. Sure it doesn't have the polish that Halo 2 has, but I'm not one for playing online and the more 'realistic' setting of Killzone appeals to me more.

Well, I found absolutely nothing in terms of videogames in the thrifts this weekend, and I visited a lot .. sadly, the Oxfam that I usually get the best stuff in was closed. Even though it said it opened at 11am. And I stood in the rain waiting for it to open. :hmm:

But I *did* pick up five books, costing a total of £3.60

Killing Time (Simon Armitage) - £2
The Innocence of Father Brown (G.K. Chesterton) - 60p
Children's Favourite Poems - 60p (there's some great poems in there!)
The Bean Trees (Barbara Kingsolver) - 20p!!

and ... to make my weekend worthwhile ...

Cosmionics (Italo Calvino) - 20p!!

Calvino is my favourite author, and I am always on the lookout for books by him, but never find them. People don't tend to get rid of them, it seems. I have found Calvino books in a thrift only once before, and they certainly weren't 20p. My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw that little beauty stuffed in amongst the Mills and Boons-es in the 20p paperbacks box!

And, ironically, the most expensive book I bought was also by far the slimmest. That's modern poetry books for you though. There was a time when poetry came in volumes, and people would write a decent amount of it before attemtping to charge you an full book's price for it. Those days are more, it seems.

Saw a loose Pikachu N64 for £29. Carried on walking.

My son earned a reward this weekend, so I took him down to EB Games. He decided on Worms 3D for Xbox (New $20). I remember spending countless hours on the original Worms myself. I got hold of a demo version about six months before the retail version was released and I think I played it every day during that span.

The 3D version takes a bit of getting used to, but it gets to be a lot of fun. It's too bad you have to keep passing the controller around. On a 2-player game it would be so much nicer to just use your own controller. Maybe there's an option in there somewhere. Think I'll go look.

We also snagged a couple of really poor Crash Bandicoot LCD toys out of the kids' Happy Meals. You have to hold them up to the light to play them, and even then it's so unclear what's going on it's not even worth it. They'll end up in the bottom of a box somewhere I'm sure.

I forgot.. I picked up one of those Namco joysticks at the fleamarket for $5. Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig-Dug, X-Rally, and Bosconion.

Maybe someone can answer a question for me?! I was playing X-Rally and after you clear 2 stages you get a challenging level or whatever it's called. There's 8 cars on the level but they don't move at all. Is this supposed to be like that?!

Hmm.. I've never owned one of these before.. wonder if you can open up the sucker and dump the rom to steal the menu.. then get a bigger ROM to hold more and make your own multigame joystick?!
