well, I made a legendary find at the garage sales today. I picked up an almost complete Entex Select-a-Game collection for $5. [it was missing Pac-man] (Oh, and a heads up to the guide guys - its called Basketball 3, not Basketball 4)
So I got -
Entex Select-a-Game with Styofoam inserts + instructions [no box]
Pinball /w instructions
Basketball 3 /w instructions
Football 4 /w instructions
Baseball 4 /w instructions
Space Invaders 2 /w instructions
Oh, I also got a boxed Atari 5200 tossed in for free :)
PS - I got all the overlays too :)

I'll have to get back to you guys on how the games play, as it takes 4 C batteries and I don't have any. [and unfortunately I didn't get the R10 power cord]

Wow. One of the first finds in a while that I actually thought was unique enough to deserve some pictures, and yet, it doesn't have any. Just my luck.

Actually, we make exceptions for finds that are so unbelievable they deserve their own thread. Like a friggin' Select-a-Game with 5 games....nice, man. Nice.

Update - Well I got some batteries today and tried it out. Space Invader2 was actually a pretty fun little game, and the pinball game was decent.
The sports games weren't very good, though. I'm not a sports fan, so maybe my opinion isn't that good, but there just wasn't enough power there to make a decent abstraction of a sports game.
If I were updating the guide, Space Invader2 would get a +, Pinball would get a blank, and Football 4, Basketball 3 and Baseball 4 would all get a -.
Anyway, it was a relief to know that all the games work and the system doesn't have any dead "pixels" or anything.
Now the question is what to do with this thing. My collecting is really all about NES and increasingly SNES, so its a bit before my interest zone. I think I'll hold onto it for a week or so while I decide what to do with it, and then I might decide to part ways with it.
Is anyone here interested? I'm just testing the waters right now.

Nice find! The Select-a-Game really is a neat little system. :)
Any chance you'd want to scan in those overlays for us so that people who have the system and games but not the overlays could print up their own makeshift versions, seeing as without them, the games are fairly useless? ;)

Weird, never saw that before. Probably because it's so rare LOL
So... uh, what is it?

Its a fairly primitive handheld videogame system. It's got about 50 LEDs that form the display which light up in various patterns to show the game. The overlays provide all the static images.
This seems to work quite well for Space Invader2, but isn't so good for the sports games, where each guy is, effectively, one pixel.
