If you have a CV just get the 2600 adaptor for it off ebay, if your patient you can grab one for $15 or so.

$50 for a 2600 is a terrible price. I passed up one for $10 at the flea market today, if you pay $50 for one it better come with the box and a couple of dozen games.

Well what do you want most? LOL :P

Heh seriously out of those I would get a Genesis as personally I feel it has the best games. I see you have a SNES (my favourite!) - The Maegadrive has many exclusive games with a lot of them being as good as some of my favourite SNES games (Well nearly).

Do you have any favourite genres or anything?

Maybe you should tell us a little bit more about what kind of games you're into...that would make it a lot easier for me to pick..

Out of those listed in the pole, I would have to go with the Genesis as well. It has some really good games.

Saturn if you've got the funds to get some good games for it and genesis if you want a lot of games really fast.

Sega Master System

I would say the genesis. Games are easy to find in the wild, and the system has a ton of worthwhile titles. My next system to pick would be the master system. Easy and fun to collect for, not too many ultra rare titles, and overall awsome selection to choose from.

GENESIS.
The question should be though "Why don't I have any of these systems yet?"
:)

The answer I'd give is the Saturn, but i'm a 2D Fighter and Shmup whore.

The best answer is the Genesis though. Excellent library and cheap games equal a winner.

Get a Virtual Boy or a Game.Com

Agreeing with SuperNES... get a Dreamcast! Such an unloved system.

Yup, and to get some Sega in that collection. :P

A lot of those systems I wouldn't recommend purely on the basis that I rarely see games for them in the wild. YMMV or you may want to get into online shopping and importing, but heck, when you got a system as cheap and easy to find as the Genesis out there and games equally as common and cheap and you still don't have it, why not start from there? As you build up and enjoy a Genesis collection, you can keep your eyes out for more uncommon systems and games.

You can never go wrong with an Atari 2600.

I would say the Genesis. Just because I absolutely love my Genesis, and I think most everyone who's played one has had a good experience. And with a lot of fairly common games, a lot of games total and many of them being REALLY damn fun, I say pick up a Genny system.

DC is one of the most amazing and cool systems in history, but fuck it just for a change i'm gonna recomend you go get a 3DO.

It's got some great games like Need for speed, Road Rash, Myst, Battle Chess, The Gunsligner collection (3 different light gun games) and of course my 3DO favorite, D, and the Grand-daddy of all FPS games, Wolfenstien 3DO.

It's an amazingly under-rated system and it's cheap. go get it and have some fun.

I would recommend the Genesis or the Saturn. Both are great consoles (as hardware goes) and would become key consoles in your collection. The genesis has an absolute bucket loads of great games - plus you can find great condition copies of these games without any hassle whatsoever. And the Saturn... well... I just won one on eBay and it's arriving next week... and I just can't wait another friggin' second! I only had a Saturn for a brief while and it stills retains a special place in my heart.

Buy whatever you take a fancy to. And then play the hell out of it. Of course, I would also be influenced by price/deal. If you see your second or third choice console sitting quietly in the corner - and it's an amazing buy - just buy it. You can't really go wrong with any of the consoles you put in your poll.

I would say between a Genesis and a Dreamcast. Both have excellent games and most you can find on the cheap. (Especially the Genesis. I find most my games for $5 or less.) Do NOT buy the Atari if all you're getting is the system and 5 games. I found an Atari 2600 at a yard sale last weekend. I paid $8 and got the system, controller, two pair of paddle controllers, and 5 games.

My vote would be for the Genesis. It has a large game library and it's games are very good (still inferior to the SNES library but that is an argument for another thread).

You took it apart?

Do you still have it? (I know you probably gave it to goodwill or something like that)

Well when you're talking about the Printed circuit boards, They should not go wrong for a VERY, VERY Long time. It is most likely that the games' Contacts were too dirty to be read.

BTW Do you blow into your games? If you do, it's the worst thing you can do to them. (Apart from destroying them, that is)
