View Full Version : Emulation on a palm

I recently recieved a PalmOne Zire 72s as a gift. As a gamer the first thought that this device inspires is not what productivity tools I can use but what games can I run on it. I have downloaded the 'Phoinix' [sic] which is a game boy emulator (which also comes with some original open source roms), so far it seems to work well--even given the ackward controls--albeit I have no sound nor do I see any options to even try to get it.

This said, do any of you have any experiance with any (other) emulators for palm based systems (phones, pda, zodiac, etc.), if so what emulators are available--FOR FREE, and what is their compatative reliability/worth. This question of course begs, why would anyone want to play emulated games on a palm (for instance given the attrocious controls)? Of course the answer to this is one familiar to many of us who mattriculate on this sites hallowed forums, because it is videogames related, and simply because you can...

So as a general shout out to all of you, what emulators are out there for the palm (any info specific to my model would be appreciated,) how are they, and where can you download them?

PS: it might be good to keep this discussion on the subject of emulators themselves and not turn this into a 'where do you find roms' forum.

Hey

Don't know about the palm but the pocketPC has some great emulators.

I have tried a Sega, atari 2600 and a commodore 64 emulator.

The Palm platform is kind of lacking in emulator department, especially in the free catagory, compared to the Pocket PC. Getting beter though.

On my PPC I have emulators for: Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Game Gear/SMS, Game Boy Advance (and the previous Game Boys), and TG-16. There's an emulator for Genesis that I haven't gotten working on there too. :( Also, there's a PSX emulator, I haven't bothered trying it yet, as I have an older PPC that can't handle it at full speed and the main game I'd want to play (Castlevania: SOTN) doesn't work according to the compatablity list.
