Hello i found a Sega CD system in a shop, got it for £1
took it home, and plugged it in, although no lights come on, i think there are some things missing, there does not seem to be anyway of getting it to connect to my megadrive, theres this slot that comes up the back of the side of the mega CD, i don't get it, you must have to connect it to the megadrive as theres no slots for controllers on the Sega CD system.
I got this Sonic CD disc game with it, but i can't figure out how to open the Sega CD system.....and did i say no lights come on.......what do you reckon is it busted.
Anyone got any info on these sega CD system things.

There's a small plastic cover on the right-hand side of the bottom of your Mega Drive. Remove this, and there will be a red plastic shield that says "Do not remove". Ignore this advice and remove it. Slot the connector it reveals into your MegaCD. There's no extra cables or anything needed, other than the power supply for the MegaCD.
However, you may well find that it still doesn't work after doing this. If this is the case, there's a common problem with MegaCD/SegaCDs where the 'F1' fuse gets blown. It's easy to fix, check the Technical & Restoration forum for details since it comes up all the time.

Yes, try this method out for connecting your MegaDrive to the MegaCD then get back to us and tell us if it works or what it is doing if it dosen't work right.
The guys here at the Tech & Rest, including me being a Sega collector myself, can surely figure out anything that is wrong and help you to correct it.
Just for the record, I'm guessing you have a Model I MegaCD, the one with the slide out tray. Am I right? I would like to know which model MegaDrive and MegaCD you have as this may also prove helpful in answering any questions if you do not get this working.
Hope things work out well for you soon! SONIC CD ROCKS! It's one of the best, if not the best, 16-bit Sonic the Hedgehog game ever! Very fun to play! I'm also guessing that the Mega CD version also had the ability to pop this game into a normal CD player and let you listin to the awsome Sonic tunes on it. The American releases Sega CD version does. It's very cool!
Oh well, try things and get back to us soon biscuitbrain! Good Luck!
