I had heard that there were a few SMS games released in America that have multilinugal boxes and manuals, and thus are indistinguishable from their european counterparts. Is this true? If so, what games does this apply to? Thanks!

"US versions" of Sonic, Spiderman & Strider were basically European copies with a US barcode stickered over the normal one.
There were also a dozen or so European games similarly distributed in Canada.

This is true of the Euro-only or NON US releases. But many of the US releases we got were in international packaging with multilingual packaging and manuals. Sometimes Canada got the Euro names of US releases (ie: American Baseball and American Pro Football.) What makes it confusing is that many of the SMS games released up here had both Euro and US packaging. I've found just as many Euro/multilingual copies of Wonder Boy as I have of the US English-only version. This "Canada factor" makes it quite difficult to differentiate between official US releases, and official NTSC releases. For simplicity's sake, I just divide SMS games into two easy categories: A) US English-only releases, and B) Everything else.
