I'm wondering what the difference is between the number of pixels on any given screen in "Super Mario Bros." compared to "Resident Evil 4". I know it's an odd question, but I really need to know. Can anyone help me?

An NTSC NES will display 224 x 240 pixels. So that's SMB's resolution.
For Resident Evil 4, it gets a bit trickier. I looked at the GameCube entry on Wikipedia and it didn't say anything on its resolution. But it's probably above 224 x 240. ;)

Oh, and before I forget...
Any other raw technical comparison between these two would be just as appreciated.

Processor speed sounds like fun...whatever IBM chip the GC has versus the 6502 clone in the NES...

Check Wikipedia. They've got a lot of specs for both the NES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NES#Hardware_specifications) and the Gamecube. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GameCube#Hardware_specifications)
By the way, Ed Oscuro...
NES:
Ricoh 8-bit processor based on MOS Technology 6502 core, 1.79 MHz.
GameCube:
IBM "Gekko" (modified PowerPC 750 RISC with 50 new instructions), 1.3 GHz.
Or more simply, the GameCube's processor is about 100x faster than an NES's.

You're writing a paper about video games?
I went to the wrong school.
Actually we had a class in vg, but I triple majored in all the wrong fields. Couldn't shove an elective in sidewise.

My major is game design. So...yeah. :)
