I like games that arn't your average FPS or Sports Game - whatever.

I'm not as familer with the Xbox's games list as other consoles so I'm wondering if you can suggest some games for me? Games I'm interested in for the PlayStation for example are: Gradius V, 1945 1+2, ICO, Rez, Mashed, Frequency ect ect

That hopefully gives you an idea of what I'm after, great games like Fable and everything are good (and I want to pick that up) but I already know about these.

So far I've only really got Grabbed by the Ghoulies which despite some negative reviews I really enjoyed.

Sound like you love shooters...me too. So first things first go buy Panzer Dragoon Orta. It is an awesome sequel to the classic with plenty of extra features and excellent graphics.

Next buy Metal Slug 3 if you like those great old school run and gun games.

A few more that I really enjoyed and weren't part of the mainstream were:

-Phantom Dust ~$15-20 Better than good, but not suberb RPG exclusive for XB.

-Tork ~$15-20 Like a Banjo Kazooie meets Bonk's Adventure style 3-D platformer.

-Kingdom Under Fire ~$10-20 Dynasty Warriors styled game with more strategy involved. Very fun on XB Live.

Try a few of those out, I liked them all. But make sure to get Panzer Dragoon it one of the best!

It is pretty much all FPS, but I'd higly recomend checking out Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. It's easilly my favorite game on the system, Amazing graphics and art direction... really beautiful locations. Shame OWI won't be making any more of this.

Everything on DrWily's list is excellent too. Some more-

Ninja Gaiden
GUNVALKYRIE
Otogi: Myth of Demons
Otogi 2: Immortal Warriors
Dai Senryaku VII: Modern Military Tactics
Razes Hell
Wrath Unleashed (also on PS2)
Gladius (PS2 / GCN)
Full Spectrum Warrior (PS2... but its much much better on Xbox)
Psychonauts (PS2)
Beyond Good and Evil (PS2 and GCN)
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (PS2 and GCN)
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (PS2 and GCN)
Second Sight (PS2 and GCN)
PsiOps: The Mindgate Conspiracy (PS2)
Breakdown (Annother new direction for FPS... and its quite good)
the Cronicles of Riddick: Escape Fro, Butcher Bay (excellent take on the FPS genre as well)

If you plan on going online I'd highly recomend-
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (offline is great fun too)
DOOM 3 (FPS but it has an AMAZING CoOp mode)

Here are some other lesser known or better yet not so mainstream games:

Toe Jam & Earl III
Jet Set Radio Future
Crazy Taxi 3
House of the Dead III

(funny...they're all Sega games :) but good ones that weren't already mentioned)

Mayhem

And Mashed is available for the Xbox as well. Advantage? 4 ports as standard, no multitap needed for multiplayer :)

Once again, I suggest Steel Battalion. Not your average FPS.

I always wanted to try that phantom dust game....

But of all of my xbox games the non-maintream titles that might appeal to you are panzer dragoon, syberia (an PC oriented point and click adventure, think broken sword), and morrowing. Morrowind is a great first person (or third) RPG, which I ma sure you kn ow about it but you can easily pick up the spercial edition for 15-20, my favorite xbox game.

PSYCHONAUTS

That is all. You owe it to yourself to play this masterpiece of a game.

I've been playing Phantom Crash recently, it's not technically an FPS, I'm a fan.

I'm of the opinion that the best game on the Xbox is Shenmue 2, followed closely by Morrowind.

I still need to pick up Panzer Dragoon Orta and Gunvalkyrie.

Here's some of the more esoteric titles that I've enjoyed. Check out the Xbox Favorites thread for a comprehensive list including of both bestsellers and lesser known games.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath - A strong candidate for best game on the system.

Psychonauts - Another top tier game. Quite unique.

Otogi 1&2 - Not groundbreaking gameplay, but has great style.

Grabbed by the Ghoulies - You already have it, but I just wanted to give it some more support.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - A good brawler that isn't completely polished, but is still one of the better games on the system.

Panzer Dragoon Orta - Possibly the best shooter of the generation. Definitely one of the best looking games.

Top Spin - I know you said you weren't interested in sports games, but this one transcends genre preference. Give it a shot if you can get it.

Pirates: Legend of Black Kat - Much better than I thought it would be. It looks like a generic early title, but it is actually very well done. A mix of platformer and adventure with some Sid Meir's Pirates! naval action thrown in.

Galleon - While we're on the subject of pirates. Last gen visuals, but a good game.

Arx Fatalis - If you like rpgs and already have Morrowind, this is a great title.

Voodoo Vince - A straightforward platformer with charm and great production.

Check out Jet Set Radio Future, it's quite out of the ordinary.

I second Psychonauts and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. And although Ninja Gaiden is popular, don't forget it, either.

Armed & Dangerous is good for a laugh.

Bard's Tale is quite fun.

Deathrow is a semi-sports title...different and fun too.

Ikari Warrior

Raze's Hell

Third person shooter with a great sense of humor, and only $20. Great co-op play too.

Outrun 2

metal arms: glitch in the system is one of my favorite games for Xbox. it's kind of a platformer/shooter combo.

Jet set radio future is one of the few games i liked enough to play all the way through. (okay i don't have all the graffiti souls but who cares) anyways it's kind of a skating/platform game which i would reccomend definetly. also see if you can find the not for resale version which is bundled with Sega Gt 2002 on one disc. it usually is the same price, and i got one at EB games eventhough it's not for resale :D

and i second deathrow... it's really fun. just... try it.

Some of these have already been stated; consider my opinion as a seconding.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System - Wonderfully fun piece of work, witty writing, great voice actors, and wonderfully tight controls.

Armed & Dangerous - Just read over Metal Arms again, but include "British humour".

Deathrow - Somewhat like a modern day Speedball, but via a combination of ultimate frisbee and basketball. If I ever see a second copy and have the money, I'm going to buy myself a spare, just in case.

Panzer Dragoon Orta - Mentioned several times already, a bee-yoo-tii-ful on-rails shooter with butter-smooth controls.

Crimson Sea - Weird sci-fi storyline, the gameplay is like Dynasty Warriors with laser guns. A bit quirky, I suppose, but one of my favourites.

Second Sight - I don't know what happened with this game; it seems to have been ignored by most, and the price dropped to the floor, but it's a wonderful stealth/psychic third-person game from Free Radical, those lovely people who brought us the Timesplitters series. Ony downside is that it's a bit short, but I'm sure you can find it for a price that justifys it's brevity by now.

I'll second Metal Arms, Second Sight, Armed & Dangerous, Psi-Ops, and add The Suffering.

If you like FPSes, definitely buy Unreal Championship, Timesplitters 2 and 007: Nightfire.

Also, I would highly suggest purchasing Deus Ex: Invisible War (it's $7.99 new at EB right now), Chronicles of Riddick, and Thief: Deadly Shadows, which are all FPSes with RPGish elements.
