It's rare, but hardly a holy grail. There are Vectrex items which are far harder to get (Japanese releases, Mr. Boston game, etc.)

I am very excited to be able to offer this for the very first time on eBay......
It may have been a while since the last was being sold, but i have a seen a number of these on ebay in the last few years...

Cheers,
Raymond

Well not so holy grail... at one point I remember about 2-3 years ago, there were at least 3-4 being listed per month. Complete and almost minty fresh in box... definitely very hard to find though.

Well there can't be too many of these out there. R9 in the DP guide and listed as the "rarest piece of hardware or software for the system".

See what happens when you tell an un-knowledgable source it's the first one on ebay?!

Yea, I wouldn't consider it a Holy Grail. It's the rarest piece of 'mass' produced hardware. The Vectrex mini cab is much harder to find. Man I wouldn't mind having mint 3-d glasses.......

That might be the most ridiculous prices I've ever seen on ebay. The 2 3-D games sold for over $1000 each. They usually don't break $100. I paid $500 for my nice boxed 3-D goggles a couple of years ago. I've seen them go for $800 or so but $2000 is nuts. I think some people are willing to pay way too much for stuff that is listed as mint or new. One persons new is usually no different than a conservative graders excellent or like new. If it isn't sealed or being sold by the original owner it's not "new". it will be interesting to see if the buyers pay and are happy with their purchases.

I agree 100 % with y-bot. I think I have never seen such insanity on ebay before on classic video games. I watch the Veccy 3D goggles and 3D games for two or three years now. "Usual" prices are $500 to maximum $700 for complete, boxed 3D goggles and $100 for complete, boxed 3D games per piece.

But those prices are absolutely ridiculous. The 3D goggles went for the tripple of the usual price, the games even 10x the usual price.

Who would be so silly to pay those prices when you would just have to wait a month or so and get them for normal prices? And I don't think that there is much difference in the optical quality between the usually sold boxed 3D stuff and that "new" ones.

Last november I bought a Vectrex lot with console (w/o box), boxed 3D imager, both boxed 3D games (two of each), boxed Light Pen, both boxed Light Pen games, and apprx. 15 additional boxed Veccy games for a total of $359. Ok, that was a lot of luck, but when I watch the photos of that insane deal yesterday, I cannot see a difference in the "optical quality" between my stuff and that one.

The veccy 3D stuff (even boxed) is rare, but definitely no holy grail. There passes no month w/o boxed Veccy 3D stuff on ebay. So those prices are crazy, just crazy :eek 2:

Most insane price I've seen on Ebay for one computer related thing was that golf game for Neo Geo, Turf Master or something. Winning bid was at £2050 i think, but the seller canceled the auction before it ended.

"I'd keep it, but I have another and they seem to be quite valuable these days." LOL

Wondering what price that one will fetch. Starting bid $400, BIN $800. So in fact a bargain when you compare with the $1k

He says its mint, but the box have some wear (mentioned as "near perfect") and it looks like the manual have some wear too.

Yep, they went for WAY more than they should have. I got my loose 3D imager and all three games (basically all bar the packaging) for $400 some 2 years ago or so.

I know nothing about vectrex and based on the comments above the prices do seem really high, but you have to admit that his items looked brand spanking new. They looked absolutely untouched - so I can understand the prices being strong. Plus, he listed a bunch of rare vectrex stuff, all at once - and when you can list a bunch of really nice stuff all at once like that people really take notice and the bids seem to follow. Everybody seems to remember that stadium events that sold for $1850 a couple of years ago (partly because the thread won't die, I guess), and I'm sure the reason that game did so well was because the seller was listing every single NES game (or just about) all at once. Big blocks of sweet stuff like that just catch attention. And the condition looked amazing, so... while the prices were really high, I can sort of see what would have helped get them there.

Well yes, brand new brings possibly more money. But 300 % or even 1000 % ...

I have a hunk of plastic, some sunglasses and some colored wheels in my basement. Do you think anyone would give me 2000.00 for them if I say that they have never been on eBay before? I could be a millianare overnight with all the crap I have that hasn't been on eBay lately, if ever!

Hey, do me a favor? Learn the definition of 'collecting' and then go to some other noob board. Cause to be honest you just made a completly ignorant comment that I see alot lately. I am getting sick of it. People collect games, when you want something rare you spend alot of money on it. Why? Cause it's rare. Stop being such an ignorant person and learn about the hobby.

PS- Sorry to come into another thread being all negative, but it's ridiculos.

PS #2- I don't think im ever getting 3D glasses like I have always wanted. :(

I think he was being sarcastic. Certainly if that was his intention, I got the joke. Trouble is, not everyone gets it :P

His point? That many people using eBay take what sellers say in their auctions at face value without considering the possibility of a slight amount of hyperbole involved...

WOW.
i recognize the handle of the person that bought that.... i think i may have seen them buying games a while back...
that is insane!
i saw a sealed one sell for under 600$, if i recall correct, a year or so ago.
