Hey all,
With the coming release of the Xbox 360, I'm really wanting to pick up an Xbox sometime soon... Do you all foresee a pricedrop in the near future due to the 360 coming out this Christmas? How soon do you think the price drop will be?
Thanks,
doogy

The price probably won't drop until the 360 actually comes out. They're still selling well and MS has stopped production on any new Xboxes so stores aren't going to have a glut of Xboxes sitting around when the 360 comes out.

Knowing Microsoft, I would'nt count on a price drop in a while.

There is a HUGE thread that isn't worth reading about Microsoft stopping production of the XBOX prior/right at the same time as the 360's release. I wouldn't count on a price drop unless an individual store decides to clear them out or something. Personally, I haven't seen an XBOX in stock at a store in many months here in North Texas. The empty shelf where they should be is hard to miss.

The long standing rule is that you rarely see a price drop for an outdated console when the new model comes out. Companies would rather have you buy the latest gen afterall, and they don't want the older hardware to be any more attractive by pricepoint.

The price should drop I heard that they are stopping the production of the xbox games. That could be a sign somehow

It's worth it at $150.

butta is right its the best console you could buy right now besides a cube to save money (features, and pure power) so the $150 purchase is definatly worth it. I bought my Xbox using a Fry's ad when Xbox retailed at $179 for $129... long story but I've yet to regret the purchase.

Yeah, I got a great deal also with buying a used XBox (complete with Samsung DVD drive) and the EB warrenty, a extra controller, and four games for just under $200.

Yes! Soft-mod it, for free, and then install the free XBox Media Center (XBMC), which can play movies (xvid, divx, etc) and music (mp3, wav, etc). Also install your favorite pic of emulators from
http://xport.xbox-scene.com/
While emulators are not as good as the real thing, it is still nice to have them all on one console. Also make sure to pic up Mame for the Xbox. I have used my Xbox mainly for watching xvids, however I have put many hours on it to play the emulators, and I have barely used it to play actual Xbox games... but there are a few games that I own and enjoy.
I heard that they are stopping the production of the xbox games
NO- Microsoft is ceasing FIRST-PARTY (their own) title production to focus on next-gen development. 3rd party stuff (Activision, EA, etc) will still continue.
Someone else I told misunderstood too.
