I'd never heard of this game before but picked it up for my NES collection. I was shocked. The game is a load of fun with branching pathways, an item shop and decent graphics. How come this game was overlooked back in the day?

Yep, I've heard of and love the game. Very unique and underrated. :) Though's there's already a topic about it over here:

Welcome to the land of cult classics! I suggest picking up Princess Tomato or Magician next.

I've tried the game out just a little, didn't see what was so special about it (I don't like the graphics, actually). So...this is one you have to give time. It's by Vic Tokai, and it seems every game of theirs I've run across has been a cult classic (except...I've had Mecarobot Golf for a year and not played it LOL )

CaD is a huge favorite of mine...very underrated game. It mxes RPG elements, action, and story line very well. Killer tunes too! The graphics weren't incredible, but the game is such a god time.
Oh, and I majorly second Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom. If you like Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and Uninvited, you will definitely dig Princess Tomato.

I beat that game something like 20 years ago. Great game, and quite lengthy.
The guy that dies, keep going back to him, you'll see him decompose lol, I think it was the first time I ever watched a "character" non badguy die

Yeah, it's definitely one that takes a little bit of time to get into (heck, like most NES games). I haven't played it a lot myself, but I see the potential for addiction in the future. :)

True, and unlike Metal Gear or Zelda when "Sgt. Billy 'Big Bang' Blitz" equipped a suit (scuba, blast or jetpack) his spite would be different in the conversatrion scenes...so you saw the change on the action scenes and in the "talking" windows.
I used to collect gold until I got 99 (you can't break past 99) and then go to the gold store and try to win double the value...then, you go to the shop for the 50th time and everything is half off. At one time, I scripted out every line of dialouge.....I have no idea why--and based a series of television scripts on the unit Billy is a member of: SABRE- The Special Assault Brigade for Real Emergencies.
Mary was his girlfirend's name...and your Commander's name is Winestuff
Joe was the lost agent who you find and who slowly dies...but his skeleton can still say "i'm already dead".
Where's the anime-like sequal?

I remember buying that game with Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu at a place called "the Fair" about 15 or so years ago. Good times indeed.

I used to be a huge fan of Clash at demonhead. The story is good, and the items make it a unique adventure. I love the suits to swim in water and in lava too.
A very good game, that deserved more credit than it received. I bought it because it was features in the jan/feb issue of nintendo power in 1990. The pics looked great so I got it for my B-day
I love this game

I always thought that about metal gear (it was overlooked) and then they made a sequel to it for ps. Be nice if they did that for this game. I loved it back in the day.
