AUGUST 1ST UPDATE:
well after many months of dealing with all of the buyers who wanted the store, not a single one of them could be approved for their loan. i really cant complain though because the summer is where i make my most money and i have done quite well! 8-) anyways now that the summer is beginning to wind down i again have the store up for sale and have lowered the price considerably. here is the ebay auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7538953255&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT (again, this auction is more to strike up conversation than anything) and the price is now $24,999. i am also accepting reasonable offers. i saw the posts below about moving the store with me, but that is too great of a challenge, moving me and my girlfriends whole personal belongings to Virginia and then all of my Business stuff as well! also i am going to work a job for about a year to be able to feel the area out and find the perfect place to open the new store so since im not moving for about 6 months on top of that, to have to store and move the stuff for a year and a half would not be worth it. i had alot of DP members interested last time and i am hoping that since the price is now half (and i technically have more stuff as well) maybe one will be able to afford it now. please email or call with any questions and thanks again for looking!

update: the ebay auction is over and i accomplished what i wanted to and that was to make some contacts on people that are serious about buying the store. i have 8 great prospects now (2 from here at DP) and am coming close to closing a deal with one of them. thanks to everyone who recommended people to me (and alot of you did) you really helped me out alot! i am still open to listen to any offer though so PM or call if you would like!

hello everyone, I am selling my video game store and thought everyone here might like to see it and maybe get a chance to own it! I have it on Ebay pretty much just to feel some buyers out and advertise on a national level. (I have 3 possible candidates right now, one being DP's own DrWily008!) I am starting my third year at this business but am moving to Virginia Beach in 6 months and want to get some expenses out of the way before I start another store. It is located at a resort in Geneva-On-The-Lake, Ohio. But the cool thing is is that I would be willing to deliver all the stuff to anywhere in the US for free! Anyone can PM me or call me to discuss any of this at 440-466-0936, 11am est to 8pm est, monday through saturday and ask for Joe. you can check out the store to get an idea of what I have at www.worldofgamesonline.com

If anyone from DP has ever wanted to own their own video game store this is the perfect place. I have tons of stuff in here and in overstock. My asking price is pretty much only half what I have in inventory and that does not count the fixtures, shelving, and equipment I have! Thanks for taking the time to look at this!

Good luck with your sale!

Any rough estimates on inventory contents?

wow, there is so much stuff in here that would be hard but if i had to give rough estimates it would be like 200 xbox, 200 ps2, 100 gamecube, 500 dvd, 3000 vhs, and for classic (everything else, way to many different systems to list) probably over 1000 if not more (i have 600-700 just in nes, snes, and genesis) and thats 5000 items right there but im sure theres more than that. plus tons of systems, TONS of accessories, and this is not even counting the equipment which is tons of slatwall shelving, 25 wooden display cases, wooden shelves for the walls with all brackets, a computer, 2 tvs, 2 cash registers, 4 retail desks for working, ringing up customers, etc. (about $1500 each), a stereo, supplies up the wazoo, shirts, posters, a safe, a fridge, a microwave, a $2500 wooden magazine rack (the kind in grocery stores), a giant neon open sign, and so much more! it would be a fantastic way to start for anyone just starting out and i have about $100,000 invested in all this stuff and am only asking a little under a fifth of that. i made $93,000 last year and $65,000 my first (this is my third year now) so i am actually asking much less than what i made my first year in business! and the fact that i will deliver it, all expenses paid by me makes it even more of a bonus! anyone interested please write or call because i am trying to be able to take at least most of the summer off, i need a break! @_@

A complete inventory list would be good.

Also, if I were buying the business, I'd want more than just the inventory, you'd need to sell me your sources, in a sense, as well.

$60k for a bunch of stuff is all well and good, but once it's gone, where do you get more from?

Inventory connections are everything.

well you would be in luck! because not only do i have the same distribution as gamestop and blockbuster!, but if your going to be in this business you should know that 75% of your inventory comes from customer trades every day. i currently get 100-200 items a day from customers and the price that you pay for that is far better than any distribution in the world. example: gran turismo 4. sells for $49.99. brand new from distribution cost $41.50+shipping. used from customer trade in $25-$30 in trade, or $15-$20 in cash! as far as an inventory list goes, that would be impossible because the store is still running so i have hundreds of items going out and coming in every day!

Since you invested so much money in this store and you want to start a new one, why not just keep everything and move it to Virginia Beach? Surely it would be cheaper that way.

Maybe he wants to start fresh for another challenge? Much like beating a game and going at it again to see what awaits you (maybe new experiences)...

your exactly right!! no, i have been working for many years straight without a day off and i would like to take 6 months or so to just relax and get recharged. then i want to move which is a big deal, im also getting married soon, and get everything settled and THEN start the new store. i dont want to do too many things at once and mess anything up!

If you were to get much more specific, and take the time to part it out, it would work out much better. Selling all of the NES games in a lot or two would probably open the auction up to alot more buyers, and get more money in the process. (I know I would be interested in n64 lots) And it would also help prospective videogame vendors, on a much smaller scale. I doubt you will find someone ready to dish out $60k for a game store, especially through ebay.

actually i had no intention of selling it on ebay. it was more like a free advertising across the u.s for only 4 bucks! 8-) and yes i hear what you are saying, but it was just more to strike up conversation. im not to worried about it though, as i have 6 serious buyers, 2 of them DP members!, and will be closing a deal very soon. thanks for looking at the thread though, i appreciate when someone takes the time to read it! :)

Man that's awesome. I wish I had good credit or money. I'd relocate there in a heartbeat.

If I were you, tho, I'd just keep all the stuff in storage until you are ready to work again. That's a lot of money to make in a year to give up.

It also doesn't help that there are five very successful independent stores in Virginia Beach now. Cool Stuff, X-treme Media (hate that name), Video Game Heaven (2 locations) and Replays. The competition is getting pretty fierce but at least Cash Convertors fell out of the mix since they won't pay anything. I would do a ton of research of this area before leasing out a location. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I could always use some more sources so I wish you the best of luck

thanks for the info, i may not move directly to viginia beach per say, i just mean that area. in a few months after my vacation i am going to start doing some hardcore research on the whole state of virginia, although i do prefer the coast! 8-)

actually he was the email i said i answered LOL i thought of him and his store when i started selling again. me and him are talking but i still want to hear from all others.

p.s. i would be willing to take some rare games for money off of the price, might be a chance to help someone get this faster by giving me a few rarities. i would even give more than its actually worth. for example, one of the guys i was dealing with last time had a NWC cart he wanted to give to knock some money off, and even though a grey version is worth around $2000-$2500, i told him i would knock off $3000 for it. just remember there is always things that can be worked out!
