I have one of these around, need to get a reasonable estimate of value. It is the one pictured here, though this instance is not mine:

Anyone have any rough ideas?

Does it have the [right] DC unit in it? Kiosk units had a semi special unit where the modem was replaced with a hollow piece of plastic, which is somewhat hard to find now.

With the DC unit, I've seen them go for $90-$150 depending on condition.

....are you selling?

It seems to have a regular DC in it... no kiosk serial or anything like that.

I will probably part with it, and am beginning the research process now.

I don't have the kiosk itself (nice), but I do have the DC unit, which I bought from our own Maxlords for $150:

Interesting.

I just found a unit at a goodwill (for $18!) with the plastic piece, though I think the model number is 3020, and I don't remember seeing the word "kiosk" on it anywhere. I'll know for sure when it arrives in the mail.

Chad, I'd be moderately interested in picking that up, depending on how much shipping will run.

I'm not really interested in shipping it at this point.

Wait, is it that extension module thing that makes it different from a regular dreamcast? This one may have it, I think I remember that. I'll have to whip it out tonight and have a look.

i have no idea about the US ones, but in Europe you can basically get them for free if you're willing to pick them up...

Just off-hand, does your kiosk system have the internal beefed up heat dissipation system like the one I have?...

...technically it's not currently in my posession but I could grab it ASAP if needed.

Could you point us to one or two of them? I've got some friends over there that would like to benefit from such freebies!

well, as i said, it was "over the last year", and they are all already gone, iirc 2 of them were at www.areabasar.de, 1 at www.nexgam.net and i can also remember one on ebay for a 5€ BIN and one on some german classified advertisments (is that the right word?? babelfish told me so LOL ) site

i'd show you the topics at the 2 boards but i can't, as both try to delete every closed deal topic asap :( if i see another free one pop up i'll let you know, actually i know 2 stores who still have them (not in use x_x ) but i never bothered to ask them about it as i don't have space for one...

I've always wanted one of these, I think I'd rather have one of these than any other store kiosk.

I'm a tad low on cash at present ($$$$ new apartment) but if anyone on the forums has one of these and IS either local (DC Area) or willing to ship, and you want to trade, I'll email you a list of my entire collection.

This goes for really any other store kiosk too, but I especially like the DC one. There really isn't anything in my collection that I *wouldn't* give up for a store kiosk.

Is that the DC motherboard, or something inside the kiosk?

Hey Chad...I am moving next week and am thinking that the kiosk would be a wonderful house warming present.

I dunno - I think it's a better station wagon warming item.

It would be... what I'm thinking, currently, is that space is my biggest issue. The kiosk would be a great way to raise $150 for a Star Wars PCB set. :-P

I can't really let this one go super cheap, though, as I promised the friend who gave it to me (free) that if I sold it I would give him half the proceeds. Certainly I wouldn't want a huge price but something within reason is necessary.

That's the motherboard on the kiosk console I have. The fan is heavier duty than a normal DC (much louder as well), it is integrated into a large heat dissipation system with air channels that lead to heat sinks over the CPU and GPU. The fan, radiator, and heat sinks are all attached to the motherboard.
