I've owned a Japanese PS2 since launch day, primarily as a fan of the Bemani games like Guitar Freaks and knowing they'd NEVER make it to the US. I've got two of those and a really cool retro pinball game (I'll find the title if anyone is interested).

I'm looking for really good PS2 games that are not available in the US and most likely would not be.

Anyone have some suggestions?

I wish I had an import PS2.

I really wanna check out those Turismo games, and I hear Guilty Gear XX is very good.

your personal shopper suggests the following:
i.q. remix
gran turismo concept 2001 tokyo-geneva
gran turismo concept 2002 tokyo
flying circus (get it with the special controller, if possible)
maken shao
air ranger rescue helicopter
air ranger rescue helicopter 2
choro q high grade 3
energy airforce
i am small
j-phoenix burst attack
lupin the 3rd
piposaru (ape escape) 2001
otostaz
project arms
xigo (devil dice)
runabout 3 (if it doesn't come out here)
shikigami no shiro
wangan midnight
space fisherman
space channel 5 part 2 (if ya liked the first one)
space raiders
switch (yup, a ps2 version of the sega-cd game called "panic!" here)
tetsu-one train battle

there's a load more i can't think of at the moment. the pinball game you have is american arcade, right? how is that, anyway?

also, if you like gun games, try gun survivor 3: dino crisis. it's got really oddball control (well, the d-pad movement is annoying, like the other gun survivor games), but it's a bit of dino-blastin' fun, AND you get a neat black guncon 2 (if you get the big box version)... :D

there are a LOAD of bemani & music titles i didn't list, as i don't actually play those games, but head on over to www.ncsx.com - they seem to have a good deal of interesting stuff, like para para paradise, and a cool-looking taiko drum game (which should wake people in a five-mile radius, i'd imagine)... X_x @_@ :o

The Gran Turisimo games you listed are reversed - 2002 is the Tokyo-Geneva one, I assume this one has all the cars and tracks form the 2001 Tokyo game plus cars from the Geneva show...can anyone confirm this? I have both but won't keep both if one has everything in it...and also, can anyone tell me if Akira Psychoball and XI have English or are they mostly Japanese text? Oh, and I recommend Moderngroove Ministry of Sound, even though it's PAL and technically not a game, it has great music and light shows :-D

akira psycho pinball (hell, ANY videogame pinball) is remarkably easy to play, even if most of the game isn't in english. actually, the boards have english all over them, and the movies are in japanese. enjoy.

yeah, i probably mixed up the gt games, but i did the first 10 or so titles off the top of my head, then i had to go dig up a list, lol...

Don't forget Culdcept Second Expansion! What an amazing series of games that have finally hit the PS2. If you love card games like Magic, then get this one!

Blood: The Last Vampire are a great set of games/movies if you can read Japanese.

The K-1 Grand Prix 2001 and 2002 are great fighting/boxing games. Highly recommended.

Rez with the Trancevibrator is a great title also.

Nice calll, Geelw with Otostaz and XI:Go.

If you liked the Tokyo Xtreme Racer games, Wangan Midnight is pretty good.

I.Q. remix is good as well.
