To be honest, I prefer a handheld that offers a different type of gameplay to that of a console. I don't really want ot be playing my PS2 games on the PSP. That's why I chose the Nintendo DS. I've never been as excited by a game line-up as I have been for the DS following E3.

But from a technical point of view, the PSP is truly impressive.

Ok...I don't want to be a dick here (and note that I also like the DS...as well as the PSP), but is this comment even relevant. This is the kind of stuff that starts bickering back and forth and makes threads go down the drain (wait for someone who "likes" the PSP to respond). There was a simple question posed about the PSP and Ridge Racers...so why did you have to state your opinion on the system (while not even answering the question).

Once again, I'm not trying to be an ass, but theres a time and a place to talk about your favorites, and this isn't it.

Your comment was irrelevant aswell, then. Sheesh. A couple of the comments talked about the DS and before I wanted to say "I think the PSP is very impressive technically", I wanted to say I favoured the DS.

Why did people talk about saving their families in my "there is a fire, what one item do you save?" thread. I posted it in THIS forum. People can say whatever they like. This is a forum.

Actually Drexel has a point. One commenter brought up the DS in relation to the screen quality, was relevant to the topic. In your example, saying you'd save your family in a "what would you save in a fire" is also relevant to that conversation. You prefering "a handheld that offers a different type of gameplay to that of a console" has absolutely nothing to do with the UMD door not shutting totally or a blurry screen during Ridge Racer. In fact, you mentioning that you find the PSP techinally impressive does nothing to answer the poster's original question either.

And yes, I know this thread jack does nothing either, so you don't need to point it out.

#1. He is a mod so he is perfectly within his rights to make a very accurate and true observation.

#2. The earlier mention of DS was in response to Zector's issue with blurriness and was relevant to the conversation.

#3. Why did you need to comment here that you prefer the DS before you posted your feelings about the PSP? As Drexel mentioned, your comment didn't even address the question at hand. The discussion is about PSP, not PSP versus DS (by the way, there IS a thread elsewhere for that).

Sure, this is a forum and you can post anything you want (within reason), but it is our jobs as moderators to determine what crosses the line and make sure things are posted in the right place.

With that, let's get this topic back on topic.

Thread jacks happen all the time. But, I guess when I do it, its not acceptable. x_x

Bah, I feel bad that I even posted anything PSP related at all. I'm sure the thread would not have gone this far off topic if it were a question about a Sega CD unit or a Turbografx 16. Maybe I'll wait a year or so before I post anything PSP related again. Thanks to the posters that actually answered my question however.

That's not very fair. It was never my intention to make you angry or sad. If nobody had commented on my comment, this topic was be as on-topic as you would have hoped for. I'm going to sleep easy tonight. But my apologies if I have "detracted" away from your topic. :embarrassed:

Yep, you figured us out. We keep watch 24/7 just to make sure we can pounce the very moment you post something we don't like.

@zektor, sorry for the continued intrusion to your thread.

Someone wake me when the system wars are over.

All the mods were trying to say is that your post did'nt have anything DIRECTLY to do with the topic. For many other threads, that's fine -- going a little bit off topic happens now and then. But when you do it in a thread like this in which fanboyism and nasty flame calling can happen (and HAS happened in the past), it increases the risk by a huge ammount. We've had WAY too many locked threads and blow outs here recently due to it and the mods are just being a little carefull to try to nip any problems in the bud. Please don't take it personaly. It's just not a great idea to bring in 'PSP vs DS' debates into a thread like this for fear of what may happen and what HAS happened -- do you follow what I'm saying? :)

To bring this on topic myself, my PSP has the same thing with the door. :)

Yes. I understand. Thank you for explaining it in the way that you did. I'm no fanboy. I'll buy a PSP, no doubt about that. I don't favour anyone. I'm just a gamer. But yeah, I've learnt a valuable lesson. Thank you.

I dunno about the DS buy who poped in to give it comment but I have to say, I have had DS since launch it completely sux ass compared to PSP.

Yea I heard people bitching about PS2 games on PSP, mainly Ridge Racer, but the PSP version of Ridge Race is like totally different than the 5 year old PS2 game.

So do I, Cap.

I thought I explained that so clearly and carefully in my last reply also..... :/

Did'nt I?
