since it appears that the american movie is never going to occur, and the remake of the original nowhere to be seen. has one of my favorite games lost the driving force for any kind of new installment?

by the way, anyone have one of the eve dolls from the first game? i've always wanted one.

I think the series killed itself off in that Square didn't quite know what they wanted it to be. The fans who were into the first because of it being a horror RPG were totally alienated by the survival horror sequel, and those who liked the sequel usually don't care for the RPG original. They have a divided audience, so no matter what they would do with another installment, they'd only be getting half of the Parasite Eve fan base.

Aussie nailed it. The first parasite eve was a brilliant game, the likes and type of which I've never seen before, or again. The second one was a lame cookie cutter curvival horror.

Guess which category *I* fit into?

And I'm the opposite. ;) The first one was only average, I LOVED the second one, which I saw as a much better game all around.

But yeah, if Squre Enix was going to produce another one they would have to decide what game to make it into and you won't please everyone. Aussie wins again with the good note. ;)

Apparently, playability doesn't sit well with some audiences ;D

First was a great game. I liked the RPG elements and the FMVs. Great story too. Replayed it 2-3 times I think (EX mode)

The 2nd had a pretty weak story. However, I found it even more fun to play than the original. I replayed it around 8-10 times.

I would be happy to have a new installment in either style. Or better yet, something new entirely.

Well, I played the second one before I liked surv-hor games at ALL. I gave it about 45 minutes probably, had to use a walkthrough to get that far, and absolutely hated it.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY like RPG-hybrid games. Final Lap Twin on the TG16 is one of my favorite games EVER for just this reason, as is Parasite Eve.

I look at it this way, Good games get sequels..... the first PE got a sequel, then the sequels stopped.

This is one of the games I remember very well while having my PSX in the early days :)

I rented this game, had no memory card.. and loved it!
Got as far as I could without having to save it ;) and well, had to return it.

I eventually got it sometime in 2002 or so but never played it again.... and then sold it off... Great game... wouldn't mind getting it someday to try and beat!

It'd be awesome to see a current version of the game taking it from the first game (I've never played the 2nd version) so I can't comment on it.

A current version wouldn't be able to improve much, it was only one gen ago, and had SPECATACULAR CGI sequences.

Going from PS1 to PS3 or X360 wouldn't improve much?
I think in game-play wise your right... it would still be the same game but why the hell not right? Look at Resident Evil... blah.

I would think the graphics could be hugely revamped and don't get me started on a P.E. Online ;)
Man that would be awesome... not sure how it would work, haha... but it would be awesome!

Mm.... DVD+ quality CGI's, HiDef P.E.... how lovely it would be!

Speaking of.... would it be possible to make a Bleemcast version of P.E. ? Holy Crap that would rock!
(I don't have a PS1/PS2) and I DO have a DC and (looks at alias/avatar, I'm a big DC fan ) but like P.E.... what can I say?! :)

how can you hate a story involving No. 9?

Can you say...real-time? Especially with the new round of consoles coming out in a short while; those should be able to match what was in PE's CGI.

I've had harsh feelings for the series and Aya ever since she beat Terry Bogard on the first GameFAQs character battle... :embarrassed:

I loved the first game......right up till I got to the end after days and days of playing it. Only to realize I never picked up the rocket launcher or some other power weapon save at the end battle, and repeatly got my ass handed to me every time I tryed to fight the end boss. Throw controller across the room, took cd out of playstation and nevr put it back in.

Although it has been a long time so maybe trying it again would seem new all over.

My memory of PE is untarnished. Played the original, never touched the sequel.

I remember Square's big "Offensive" from back in the day. FFVIII, Xenogears, PE, Brave Fencer, one right after the other. That was a hella good year.
