Strange peripheral for Genesis/SNES

I saw this strange peripheral at a thrift at lunch, tried to remember the name but forgot. It looked like something you strap on your back. The box said "compatible with both Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo" I think it was called something like Virtual Pak or Virtual Reality Pak. It had a picture on it with a kid with this black thing strapped to his back. Any ideas what it was? the store is a subway ride away so I don't really feel like going back to check.
