could anyone post a pic, I'm really lost here and I would like to look through all my carts.

I wouldn't advise you to look through every cart you have. Only the first run of cartridges have them. Here's the titles to look through (even though some are re-emphasized).

Gyromite
Stack-Up
Duck Hunt
Wrecking Crew
Clu Clu Land
Excitebike
DK Jr. Math
Wildgun Man
Hogan's Alley
Ice Climber
Baseball
Mach Rider
Super Mario Brothers
Kung Fu
10 Yard Fight
Pinball
Golf

Also, here's a pic of the converter.

Too bad I can't get my 280-in-1 (famicom) to work with either of the adapters though... I opened the cart up, and the black rom pieces didn't have the usual black tape over the clear window... does that mean that maybe the rom got reset or something?

Try cleaning the connections with rubbing alcohol. Works for me sometimes.

Even if I were to find a game with the adapter in it would it even be useful for me if I only have a US television set?

Famicom games work perfectly on a US television. The reason Nintendo used those adapter is because the circuit board inside is Famicom. The problem with US televisions is hooking up an original Famicom system to it. Mine works perfectly on channel 96 but if your tv doesn't go that high then it may not work correctly. Japanese systems output RF on a different channel than our 2/3 or 3/4 but cartridges and CDs are the same NTSC that we use.

Use this method to find the carts with adapters every time.
