Well, if you ever do get a CD-i, be prepared to be less than impressed. Although the Mario game didn't look that bad...

Well I'm not talking about it's a Mario game but about the Scarcity!

I think it's a copy or something, if it's not I'm going to be very happy ;)

But it would be such a good deal! For me, I mean! LOL

I rue the day I let a BIN for a CD-i and a ton of games including Zelda's Adventure go for $70. Oh well.

Hotel Mario is not too bad, assuming that you have a wired CD-i controller for playing it. It's not so fun when you have to aim your remote directly at the receiver while putting one hand over the other to be able to push the buttons.

Hotel Mario was pretty playable with the Philip portable's pad.

Yeah I already own a copy for it, I'm more excited to see Wacky Worlds because there are 3 know copies or something  . I think it's fake, I will see it in a few days.

Oh... I own a copy of Wacky Worlds (not an authentic one) and it works, but, trust me, you'll be disappointed.

Cool deal. They're all worth playing at least once, too.

How much are the consoles themselves worth?

$2 for the standard models, approximately. i.e. less than shipping unless somebody is desperate. Go check your Goodwill/Salvo Army.

Now, the portables? yeah, a bit more expensive

There is no way that you will be receiving an authentic copy of Super Mario's Wacky Worlds.

Actually, my hunt for that very game is what lead me to stumble upon Digital press a little less than 2 years ago.

The game is neat at first, but extremely disapointing and annoying as you have to reset the CD-i every time that you want to play a different level. Mario just runs to the end and then...nothing happens. It uses music ripped from SMW. The graphics are slightly neat, but it's a novelty that wears off quickly. Go print out the box art on a nice printer and you'll have a nice conversation piece.

Enjoy it! - Though you really should not have paid for it - it's readily available on shady areas of the interweb highway.

A CD-I system is about $2?

Shiznit. If anybody has an extra they are willing to sell for $10 plus shipping, I would buy it. So they gotta be worth more than $2.

I've never seen a CD-I system in the wild.

Does anyone have some good links to some information/resources on the CD-i. I know nothing about it. Of course I know of it, but I don't know anything really. Good links would be most welcome.

Ah, the item's description changed SIGNIFICANTLY, you're not paying 37+ eur. for a copy of Hotel Mario. Oh well. There's no such thing as a good deal on super rare CD-i games anymore LOL

Zelda's Adventre isn't that rare in Holland. In the end you could get them for less then 10$ from the CD-I Gold Club in the Netherlands. I think the system and almost all games are not that that rare in the Netherlands as there was a quite big userbase for the CD-I over here. Almost every electronicshop sold CD-I systems and it was available at a lot of stores. There are more stores here which sold CD-I then for example Saturn or Dreamcast.

Then would you mind scoring a few reasonabley priced copies of 'Zelda's Adventure' for some needy DP members?

Seconded. I'd tack a healthy premium onto that $10 just to get one.

It a bit hard to get extra opies separate these days. I had over 20 copies of Zelda's Adventure i my life, but if you want to get a cheap one you have to buy a system as well with loas of crappy games. So in that way it would be hard, but if I see some reasonable priced copies, I will pick them up for you lads.

Edit

Just had the proof for the low prices as someone bought one before my nose (it was only online for 45 minute), system sold with zela's adventure, dv-cart and 8 more games and some other cd-i discs for only 35 euro.

But this kinds of offers you see more in the Netherlands. I will try to react when I see them.

i've still got at least one Sony portable CDi left if anyone is interested.

NOT DV-cart compatible however, but still super cool. Excellent screen.

Yeah, I'd definitely buy one for $10!

Wacky Worlds was never finished, but I heard it's a real pain in the ass to burn a copy of it. Anyone wanna make me a copy of the game? I'll gladly fork over some dough.

Just out of curiosity... how much are you looking to get out of it?
