Was'nt sure to stick this here or in Off Topic, so please move it if you feel I picked wrong. :)

For those of you with PSP's, have you bought any UMD movies for your unit? Or plan to? If so, which ones, and what do you think of it? Especily if you can compare it to the DVD version?

I'm just curious to see what everyone has to say, cause I have a theory in mind and need some evidence to prove or disprove it. ;)

That's a fancy way of saying "If you say what I think you will, I'm gonna say something really annoying, state the obvious or bring up an old arguement" LOL
No...I haven't bought any UMD movies. I plan to when they release something I'm really interested in. I don't see the point in buying the movie when I can spend less on the DVD and throw it on my memory card. There are movies I'd like to own on UMD but just like a game...if I'm not interested in what's being released, I just won't buy anything.

no, $20 is way too much for a portable only movie, and if I wanted it I would buy it on dvd. Only umd I will buy is the final fantasy AC, but if it comes out of dvd for cheaper I will buy it on dvd instead.

Haven't bought a one. I've converted gobs of DVDs into Memory Stick flicks, though.

I've got about five of them. I even bought "Are We There Yet?" :eek 2: LOL

I don't have a portable DVD player and I've heard the DVD rips are of lesser quality. (Is that true?) Besides, they just look neat all lined up on the shelf for some reason.

" I've converted gobs of DVDs into Memory Stick flicks"

Just curious what software you're using?

Rips can be of lesser quality, depends on if you use compression and how much.

DVD Decrypter and PSP Video 9, the latter of which I find more to my liking than iPSP or 3GP Converter. How 'bout you?

Well i have 7 now and 3 more pre-ordered and paid off. Really I'm mostly rebuying them on UMD, because i'm sorta collecting for the PSP, not really hardcore but when i get extra money ill buy some psp stuff.

If they drop in price, I might pick up a few. However, they way they're selling, I don't think they'll be going to. If any Godzilla movies get released, yes, regardless of price.

And just for the record, I'm floored by how well these are doing. I never, ever, expected them to go over, at least not at the usual price range. I'm also ticked they can't put all of them in the proper aspect ratio.

I'm not really that surprised. A PSP is still cheaper than putting video screens in the headrest of your SUV. For some reason I feel that the people who would do that are the people buying the videos. Just a generalisation I made when I saw who was buying three at a time at Wallmart.

Not a single one. Around here they cost anywhere from $20-$30 and that's ridiculous, IMO. Especially when the DVD versions are selling $15-$25. The most I would pay for a new PSP movie is $15, no more. I would reconsider if there was a way to watch UMD movies on my TV, but until then, I would rather buy them on DVD.

I intend to get a 1gb memory stick and just convert whatever I want to watch.

Not a single one.

I just got my PSP last week and love it to death. The only UMD movies I have played on it is the sampler it came with(no spiderman 2). For the price of a UMD, I would much rather buy the DVD and watch it on my TV. I will save the movies for when I get a larger memory stick.
