A friend o' mine at a local game retailer gave me a list of all the X360 games currently listed in the chain's computer (but not in the X360 category--the chain sneakily categorized them under a "dead" system).
Burnout Revenge (Nov.)
Condemned (Nov.)
Dead or Alive 4 (Nov.)
Frame City Killer (Nov. 15)
Full Auto (Nov.)
Ghost Recon 3 (Nov.)
Godfather, The (Nov.)
Gun (Nov.)
Kameo: Elements of Power (Oct. 3)
Madden NFL 2006 (Nov.)
NBA Live 2006 (Nov.)
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Nov.)
Perfect Dark Zero (Nov.)
Project Gotham Racing (Nov.)
Quake 4 (Nov.)
Test Drive Unlimited (Nov.)
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2006 (Nov.)
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (Nov.)
True Crime 2 (Nov.)
Ultimate Spider-Man (Nov.)
A pretty damn tasty list, if'n you ask me.

Speak for yourself. ;) I see four on there I'd DEFENTILY be interested in, and maybe another four or five more I want to know more about.
Of course, I'm still not buying a system at launch. ;) I see no reason to change my policy of waiting at least six months before buying a new system.

I sure hope that oblivion is a launch title, thats what I am buying the system for!
But if that truly is the launch lineup the only games that I would buy would be quake 4 and perfect dark.

I'd probably just get Perfect Dark Zero. Unless Ultimate Spiderman is good, in which case, that too.
I've been waiting for PD0 for so goddamn long, it's almost a shame I probably won't get a 360 til Halo 3 comes out in the Spring.

Isn't 3/4 of that stuff coming out for PS2/XBox?
Since it's a preliminary list it's nothing to worry about, but I'm not impressed.

I am not impressed as well, I am not even hyped about PD0, but it would probably be the only game I buy at launch.
I am upset that elderscrolls 4 oblivion was not on there, wasnt it supposed to be a launch?

I think you're thinking of Namco's "Breakdown"
Burnout is the car crashing/racing game by EA.

The majority of those launch titles will indeed also ship for PS2 and Xbox, but of course MS is counting on folks to shun those inferior versions (and I'll be one of the shunners).

Games I'm sure to pick up:
Burnout Revenge - This series ROCKS and I know this will not disappoint. Probably one of my favorite games of all time! One of my must have titles at launch.
Condemned - interesting and very fast but I doubt I'd spend $50 for it new. It's a wait until it's $25 used game to me.
Ghost Recon 3 - awesome looking! I love the 2nd one and this one looks so much better and is going to rock!
NFS:Most Wanted - I'm unsure about this as they have added the cops to chase you and even though it's kind of cool they are going back to what it was all about I've grown used to the NFSU series and like that. Hope it turns out well... this is a rent before you buy title.... I'm sure.
Perfect Dark Zero - another one of those games I will probably have to get at launch because of the multiplayer aspect of it!
True Crime 2 - Have high hopes for this one but I'll have to wait and see. Could very well be a launch purchase.
but without any hesitation I will be getting both Recon 3 and Burnout...

Weak for me... only Burnout would interest me and it is something I can get on any console.
This doesn't really change from this generation where my GC is the console for which I have the most games, followed by PS2 (>20 for GC, >15 for PS2 and only 4 for the Xbox) - I know there are more than 5 good games on the Xbox, it is just that I find most/all Xbox games to have NO replay value and from what I see in this line-up it is exactly the same thing.

This is just one companies list of games in their database, and I don't think it would be too wise to think that all of those games are actually going to see the light of day in 2005.
Having said that, I'm sure that there are also games not on that list, that will see the light of day in 2005 for the 360.
But the bottom line, is that despite all the naysayers, this is going to be a pretty impressive launch indeed, even if only half of those games come out.
As much as I can't stand E.A. Sports, I'm definitely looking forward to their next-generation game engines for Madden and NBA Live and PGA Tour. I have had very little interest in their XBOX or PS2 sports offerings, because they have been using the same crappy engines for the last several years. But with the arrival of the 360 and later the PS3, E.A. is actually forced into designing a brand new game engine from scratch for those sports games. If that picture of NBA LIve for the XBOX 360 is actually a real pic of gameplay graphics, then it looks absolutely revolutionary from a graphical standpoint, and I will be all over it like a fly to shite.
Of course, I still wonder if either Live or Madden will actually really be available on the 360 in 2005. E.A. is notorious for having new sports games for next gen systems slip. Anybody Remember Madden for the launch of PS1? The game was being made by Visual Concepts for E.A., and at the last minute E.A. decided to cancel the game. The only football game to appear during the launch year of the original PS1 was NFL GameDay. Then a year later E.A. came out with Madden '97 for the PS1, and this time it was developed by Tiburon. Anyways, I wouldn't be suprised at all if the only E.A. Sports game on the 360 this Xmas was Tiger Woods.
As for what XBOX 360 game that I'm most looking forward to, well I would have to say that Dead Rising by Capcom is one of my most wanted games right now. Have you guys seen IGN's preview of this game? There is one screenshot of the game where it shows the main character standing on a delivery truck in a tunnel, and thousands of zombies are swarming the truck. It literally shows thousands of individual zombies swarming the truck! Now that is the kind of next gen experience that I'm looking for. Sure, there are lots of next gen games that show thousands of NPC's on the screen at once, but in this game it's not just for show. It's actually has a real meaning to it. So I'm definitely excited by that one, but again, will I actually get a chance to pop that in my 360 during 2005?

DoA4. But even then, I'd wait until it was used and selling somewhere < $20. Obviously, I'm less than thrilled with the next generation thus far. At least the 360 console kinda looks neat.

Disapointment from Twisted Metal Black? I thought it was fairly good.

Not worth getting a new console for though. The 360 does seem a lot more appealing to me than the other 2 consoles so far but that may be just that we've seen more of it and I am probably never going to like a Sony console much. Prejudice runs through me on the console front

based on the ton of hours i've invested in PGR2, it's a no-brainer for me.
however the alleged lack of "slow" cars has me worried. i liked racing the hot hatches and such. if that's the case, while i'm sure PGR2 will be playable through backwards compatibility, how will they handle content/save transfers to the new console?
no way in hell i'm losing my file, and i need to be able to transfer the expansion packs so i can still drive the ariel atom. :D

This is a promising list, even if around 5 titles will get delayed. A good mixture of titles for a launch.
Project Gotham Racing 3 ---great!
Burnout -- certainly promising after the high quality Burnout 3, great!
Kameo --- great!
Perfect Dark Zero --- 'new' FPS with a nostalgic feel, great!
Maybe the acquisition of Rare pays slowly off for MS. :) Important is that Kameo won't get delayed for the sake of variety.

Some of us aren't made of money, don't have sugar daddies, or like getting things for cheap. I don't feel like paying full price when I can get stuff later for cheap.

The only
thing they love more than a hero is to
see that hero fail, fall, screw-up... to
see him exposed in a scandal, arrested
with his pants down, caught with his
hands in the till. You know why? It lets
them feel better about their own
miserable lives.
LOL
Anyway...it's a shame they aren't making AD&D for the 360. I'd sure like to spend my money on a 360 instead of having to upgrade my computer.
None of these games really motivate me to buy at launch. I'll probably hold out for something better.

Me? Several reasons why I never buy something when it first comes out....I wait for a price drop, for better and more games to come out for it, for any bugs or issues for it to be worked out, and to make sure I REALLY want the system by playing with it somewhere else. :)

Personally, I don't have a bias for, or against any particular system for the current generation, or the one that's about to start in November.
But man, it seems like alot of people on here are somewhat anti-Microsoft and anti-XBOX.
I've read alot of posts where people have said something like this..... "I'm not sure if I'm going to get a Revolution right away, and I might wait for a price drop on the PS3, but I can tell you one system that I'm not interested in whatsoever, the XBOX 360."
What is up with this anti-XBOX sentiment?
It seems like alot of people are trying to find reasons "NOT" to get the 360, rather than finding reasons to get one.
I wonder what the real issue is behind this sentiment? Is it the fact that Microsoft is somewhat new to the gaming industry? Is is that Microsoft is a U.S. based company that doesn't have the tradition of a japan based video game company? Is it the fact that people don't want to see the wealthiest man in the world get even more wealthy?
I just don't understand it.
The 360 is going to have a damn good launch if the majority of the games that we are hearing about actually come out in November and December and early January. The price supposedly is going to be in the $300 range, which could be $299.99 or $349.99, so it's not like the thing is way, way overpriced.
I guess it must just come down to fanboyism.

I dunno man. Condemned looks pretty cool to me. And I really want to play with the built in Neon. As someone who still hasn't picked up a Xbox yet (but who wants one and Doom3 soon) I want to hear more about how backwards compatibility will be. Also as a homeowner with a marginally paying job, I am a cheap bastard these days. But that seems like a nice launch line up.

But man, it seems like alot of people on here are somewhat anti-Microsoft and anti-XBOX.
People remember things like that Palladium chip (ugh) that Microsoft was talking about a few years ago (heh, I don't know if they've given up on it or what), and of course there's a lot of bad will towards the company (and the industry for that matter) that took 10 years to catch up to the Amiga OS.
Yet I think that people give Nintendo a free pass. They helped lock us in this current distribution scam, er, scheme, which is serving developers sooo well these days. I like the company, though, and it seems they might start correcting some problems with the Revolution and smaller, downloadable games.
Microsoft still has a lot to prove.
SoulBlazer
06-02-2005, 11:18 PM
Well, they have proven themselves to me. ;)
Really, the XBox is my favorite modern system. If I have a choice between systems, I'll always buy the XBox version. It has the best graphics and sound for the current systems, and takes advantage of my HDTV and 5.1 speaker setup. It plays DVD's better then the PS2 does. The controller is confertable, XBox Live is a great service, and the HD is much better then a memory card.
Can't wait to see what the 360 can offer.

I'll admit to it. My ill will towards MS stems from my years in the tech industry. Having had to support MS products for many years, I got sick of em. I got tired of rebuilding machines because the OS corrupted Itself. I got tired of MS buying up small companies with promising tech, then doing nothing with it. People bitch about Nintendo's business practices, they should take a peak at MS. They once had a deal with every major PC manufacturer that even if the manufacturer put a non-MS OS on a machine , they had to pay MS a royalty. O_O
So that, in short is why I dislike MS, and consequently the Xbox. That being said I own two. paid a total of $45 for them.

They didnt put them under a "dead system" (Jaguar) to be sneaky though, whenever they add a new category they have to take out another one. I think PSP or DS was originally Neo Geo.
There is a ocuple in the system not on your list but this Link (http://www.gamestop.com/search.asp?filter=0&ckSearchcount=1&orderAscDesc=Asc&linkpage=1&rangeFrom=0&rangeTo=ALL¤tpage=1&keyword=&searchtype=quicksearch&platform=32&genre=0&lookin=platform&selection=ALL&imageFlag=show&sortby=title&statcd=&publisher=&esrb=&title=&searchcount=50) shows alot of them from the same retailer, but some of the dates dont look right, I thought Demonik was next year? Not really. Pretty much everyone knew $60 MSRPs for triple-A titles were coming, and adjusted for inflation, $60 is still a screamin' deal compared to what we paid for triple-A games in the cartridge era.

What's up with all the XBOX hate on these forums, nobody want's to admit to it, and explain why?ove
The quick and dirty reason is that because without the huge graphical updates that happened with previous generation jumps, the 360 isn't that much better than the Xbox. And it is "too soon" to be launched. And it is trendy to hate Microsoft. I remember all of the Microsoft bashing that went on when the Xbox was first announced, and now it seems that a lot of those people own the console themselves.
