View Full Version : Metal Gear 3 Question?

Ok, so I just finished beating metal gear 3 and was a little let down. I got to thinking about it and was wondering if im the only one here who thinks that the game should have ended after the General Volgin and Shagohod fights??? Actually I think the game would have been much better if you took Boss out of the entire game.

never ! >.> I wouldnt change a thing , boss showdown was awesome , the only thing i would want added is a eva frontal nudity thats it .The boss sort of played out the drama in the game of course , i liked the idea of the boss cause it explained some of snakes/bigbosses past and how he gained his skills etc.

Yeah, it woulda been great if they'd taken out the entire thing that puts a beautifully heartbreaking thread throughout the whole series of games, even the ones where most of the dialog was to tell you to 'destoroy' things...wait, no it wouldn't.
Now EVA I could've done without. Yeah, she's crucial to parts of the plot, but damn is she ever annoying.

The boss is what made the story so powerful. The tradgey of everything the Boss had to do is infinetly important to the series. It's why Big Boss did everything that he did in MG and MG:SS.
It was heart breaking, it was devestating to Big Boss, it was needed. Kojima knew what he was doing.
Eva, while she wasn't nearly as important a character, she did have a purpose. She filled the role that Otacon (MGS) and Solid Snake (MGS2 - Plant). Not to mention that she showed us that Big Boss has a very human side.

I think that if the boss wasn't part of mgs 3 than it wouldn't have been nearly as affective which I am still in awe of going through metal gear solid 3
I have to play through it again because it's such an amazing game and damn i love the ending.

Wow. I can't believe I'm seeing a post that doesn't want the Boss in the game. She was so critical to the game. The ending was possibly one of the best endings to a game I have ever witnessed, and there is no way in hell I'd change it.
Take out Boss, wow, such a horrible idea. That'd be taking out such a huge part of the game.

Damn straight, the backstory with The Boss was critical to showing the roots of what became FOXHOUND. +100 meseta to you, -50 for leaving the MAME competition. LOL

Indeed, Kojima pretty much painted the backstory for the entire Metal Gear franchise (not just the MGS games) with The Boss as well as meeting Granin toward the end. Eva was a bit annoying but that just lead to suspicion concerning her right up until the end of the game. (which went on to cap off one of the best written video games of all time, Kojima finally surpassed Snatcher) I won't spoil it for those who haven't completed the game yet.

I nominate this post for entry into the 2005 Worst....Post...Ever National Competition. Yeah, removing Boss is a good idea. Next, lets remove Rosebud from Citizen Kane, Blondie from Sin City, and Juliet from Romeo and Juliet! Who needs tradgedy and/or character motivation!

Like everyone else said taking out the boss would be like castration. Theres some things that must stay.
