I was browsing through the usual assortment of NES games at a local Game Crazy store when I noticed a cart I hardly ever run across. There with the purple label and cartoony characters was Mendel Palace, a hudson soft release that seemed worth the 5 bucks.

An hour later and I'm hooked on possibly one of my favorite NES games. Eye pleasing, simple, fun.A top down view with a combination of gameplay in the Bubble Bobble and Kickle Cubicle vein. I spent the night playing and completing the game with my 10 year old brother, a kid whom never even bothered with old school gaming goodness. He's now hooked on the simplicity and asks me each night "what game are we going to beat now?"

Mendel Palce, a rare treat in the NES collection, and an early developement by Game Freak, the guys who later went on to Pokemon fame.

Damn, I was going to buy this game one day, but I left it behind as I was low on cash and didn't really know what it was. I hope I find it again someday, it sounds like a great game.

Only played the Japanese version, which came out a year or so ahead of Mendel Palace and was under the name "Quinty".

Mendel Palace was a total graphical overhaul and I think the game is rightfully Namco's.

I have that game in my collection. Never played it, though..

I'll have to give it a try.

I bought this title a few years back knowing nothing about it. At first I had no idea what I was supposed to do, but once I figured it out, I had a total blast. I played non-stop until I beat it. Great game, and I still break it out every now and again. Certainly one of the unsung treasures of the NES.

I remember playing Mendel Palace & scored over 100,000 or more.
