Well, it's Monday for those of us who had the day off yesterday! I hope everyone had a memorable Memorial Day weekend. It's a memorable week for the MAME Club as well, as we finally made it through our entire list of members! The list officially started in November of 2003 -- it's taken us that long to get through the list!!! I've already started adding new members to the end of the list for the next time through.

Welcome to this week's Monday Morning MAME Club Posting. Every Monday, a member of the MAME club will pick a new game for you to play in MAME! All you have to do to participate is install MAME, download the ROM of the week from this message, and then post your thoughts about the game! You can post a full review of the game or simply tell us what you liked/didn't like about the game. Have you played this game before? Have you played it in an actual arcade? Do you like the genre? How did it run on your computer? Did you beat it? If so, how long did it take? What was your high score? How far can you get? Did you have any problems emulating the game? When writing your review, post it right here in the sticky topic and include any thoughts you have about the game. Remember, YOU are the reviewer. Let us know anything and everything you think about the game! Just remember, if you want people to respond during YOUR week, you should play along on OTHER weeks!

The ROM of the week is: Blood Bros (available HERE (http://www.robohara.com/mameclub/bloodbro.zip)!)
KLOV Link for the game: HERE (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=7163)

That looks so much like Wild Guns on the SNES it's scary. I'll download it later this week.

Never saw or played this one before. Also, I was not aware Cabal had a sequel.

Overall, decent game, but I like Cabal better. This one seems a bit on the easy side and I don't believe it has much to offer, but still is fun.

It seems that they opted for a joystick vs. trackball for this game. Cabal used a trackball. Wonder why the change?

Since it was 1990, my guess is it was made for a joystick simply so it could be swapped in/out of JAMMA cabinets easily.

I've put this one off for too long. It's not the exact type of game I was thinking it might be (I was thinking G.I. Joe-style, actually, for whatever reason), but it is damn impressive! The controls are pretty darn good, and the roll move is dependable. The ability to shoot and destroy most anything comes in handy, though I had a few times where I'd open up passages for enemies to spring from (i.e. in the mine).

For me, the hardest boss was the giant snake.

This game plays more like Nam '75 than any other, which is why I chose it. Everyone knows Nam '75, and if you love it, you should give Blood Bros. a try.

Plays best with two players. It's an EASY game so the two-player co-op gives you a rival to match scores with.

Fun game, and I must confess I've played similar games that just didn't do a whole lot for me. But this one was a heck of a lot fo fun. But my favorite part was the great bow-legged running animation of the character when the level os over. That had me rolling.

We really need more games based off of the Old West setting. Besides Blood Bros. here, the only ones I can think of are Iron Horse, Sunset Riders, Gun.Smoke, and Wild Guns... and I guess Lethal Enforcers II. Blood Bros. is fun, and I bet that fun is increased considerably with two players. Hey, it's enjoyable enough for one. Plenty of shooting and destruction to bring about, and being able to roll around does help with the bullet dodging. As expected, things don't get easier as you play further into the game, but if you find enough dynamite to blow your way through buildings, you'll find that the meter on the bottom will drop much faster if you focus on targets other than humans.

Speaking of Wild Guns for the SNES, I recommend that too if ya thought BB rocked. ;)

I got a few minutes to play it and Cabal was the first thing that came to mind. I really enjoyed Cabal back in the day and I didn't know there was anything else like it until playing this game. I liked it alot! This game was joystick based? That would have sucked. The trackball makes a much better controller to move arround the screen quickly for this game.
