It really depends on your "tollerance". I like my "PSKid" famiclone fairly well. It has a fairly nice PlayStation style controller, for example. It generally plays most games fairly well, however, that is most, not all. If you are willing to sacrifice a bit of quality, many of them aren't too bad.

I have a Polystation III, and it plays all my FC games beautifully. However... I bought a NES->FC converter, and it doesn't play all NES games properly (ie - Gauntlet, black cart).

I have many different Famiclones and can tell you that they are all very different. The best Famiclone line-up that I've come across are the various Pegasus & Super Pegasus Famiclones. These were released in Eastern parts of Europe, primarily Poland, and replaced the NES in those areas back in the day. They are very sturdy, high quality Famiclones. Unfortunately, they are not that easy to come across, especially when located in the US. You may want to check out some European eBays, especially the German eBay.de.

P.S. Just as a funny side note, the box art of one of my Pegasus consoles is based on Camerica's unlicensed games...I wonder what their connection was ;)

Stay away from Sachen Famiclones. The controller pins screw up at will.

Most unlicensed Famiclones are utter crap. Typically these are the Famiclones that use an unlicensed NOAC.
