I post this topic in the tech forum: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=62252&sid=dd9146bcbc4869f99abdd69a3e95e174
But I think I wll get a better response if I post up here. )Mods, please don't close or move.)
Anyways, I have always wanted an Odyssey, since it's the grandfather of them all. I've been eager to play this 1972 system with no CPU, screen overlays, and tons of game cards and boards.
So, I finally get one and it arrives. Guess what? I can't get it to work. I am not sure what is wrong.
Here is what I know:
1. The "pass through" on the game switch works. I have the game switch hooked up to a coverter, and have it plugged into the coax cable input in my TV, (like a normal RF unit). I have my cable TV plugged into that. When the switch is set to "TV" the cable works. When it's set to "game" I get nothing. I have tried this on channel 3 and 4, and it works on neither. I have even tried flipping the switch in the Odyssey, and nothing.
2. I have tested the unit with both a standard 9 volt power adaptor and with 6 C batteries. I ran a current test and there is power from the batteries going to the motherboard.
Now, my big question is this:
Is there something else that I have to check to make sure that the Odyssey is compatible with my TV? I read that the "signal" that they Odyssey sends may not be recgonized by a 90's NTSC TV. Is this actually true?
I don't know what to do.
My next stop will be to find an electronics store if Phoenix to see of anyone can work on this thing.
Anyone in Phoenix know of a good place?
By the way... PLEASE HELP! :)
Thanks.
