Im not sure how many people are excited for this, but I know Dragon Warrior fans will be pleased!

The Dragon Quest slime controller is coming to America! These things were really popular last year in Japan and soon fans that didnt get the chance to pick up the controller last year will get the chance!

Everything Dragon Quest is popular in Japan, though. I'm a fan of the series, and I guess it's a cool. If I had too much money, I might buy it just to display it.

Heh, that's awesome! I hope it'll drop in price at some point though...It's really hard to justify $40 on a controller, no matter how cool it is...

Sweet, though there's something not cool about the location of the controls......

Do you think the Slime's crap looks the same as the Slime's body? :P

Hehe, anyway, pretty surprising that it's coming to the US, but it's cool that a wider audience can get it. What I'm wondering about is, are they really going to call the game Dragon QUEST VIII in the US? Didn't someone already copyright the Dragon Quest name in the US, so Enix had to go with Dragon Warrior (just like with Biohazard/Resident Evil)? Did the life of the copyright run out or what?

Apparently, Hasbro (who owns Wizards of the Coast, who owns TSR) let the Dragon Quest name lapse, so Square Enix snatched it up.

I don't know...I worked at EB for a LONG time and they always make up release dates to try and capitalize on pre-orders.

I really would love to have that controller with American packaging though. Mark my words...there will only be a handful made if it's released here and it WILL be a valuable collectors item in the future.

I really wish it was a wireless controller with that price tag on it. :/

It'd be nice for this to end up like the SF Anniversary controllers that I can now pick up for $10 a piece, but I highly doubt it.

I'll probably buy at release.

Forget Street Fighter arcade sticks and Resi Chainsaws - I want one of these!

Is it squidgy???

Woohoo!

I missed it the first time around. When I finally wanted to buy the Jap version everywhere was sold out.

That is so cute. I just want to hug it and love it and keep it warm at night.

For $40 I'm gonna have to pass as well, maybe I'll get really lucky and it will clearance out in NH somewhere or on ebay.

Whoa, a ps2 controller with a decent-looking d-pad? :D

If you are suggesting the PS2 doesn't have a controller with a good D-Pad, I suggest you give a Mad Catz controller a whirl. They seem to do D-Pad to my liking everytime :)

The slime controller was 3,129 yen in Japan, which is a little less than $30. Lik-sang imports it for 49.95 though (but it's out of stock), and I can't find another retailer.

Ebay says:

A lot more. Usually goes for around $100. So, basically, it's time to pre-order one of these, kids. If you love DQ and love slimes, you know you'll want one down the road. :)

Yeah, if this is true, I'll be preordering at least two of em.

It better have a good D-pad, the Dragon Quest series is as old-school as new games get. :P

No. It's brown and much tastier. :-P

No, it's hard. I played with it at E3 :)

Along the lines of the Chainsaw controller... I really hope they actually plan on MEETING the demand for these things. This poor kid at our EB preordered one right away and didn't get it until 3 months after they were originally supposed to come out. Why? The manufacturers only made 2% of the total number of preorders for some reason...

When do you think it will be available for pre-order, and where would be the best bet?

If this was answered, sorry... I'm not wearing my glasses. just got up to use the bathroom and get a drink of water when I heard the call of the computer.

Definately a great novelty item, but $40, dang I don't know if I will spend the money for that! :(
