They look believable from a tech point of view, but I'm gonna have to go with fake. They're probably just Photoshop pics on a memory stick. Rockstar is tight with their security surrounding GTA games and faking screenshots on a PSP like that is just way too easy to do.

If they're fakes, they're quite good.

* The debug text at the bottom of the second pic looks very much like something that would be present in a pre-release version. I've played dozens of betas with similar debug info.

* There are no typos in the text, which is the most common fake-mistake.

* The screen elements and layouts are stylish and polished. If this was an amateur's doing, he's got talent.

Gotta be fake, dunno how anyone would get hold of it to take a picture of it...
But well...you never know

If it's really in beta testing, then the tester just took some pictures...and probably faces a lot of trouble for doing so if he/she's found out. I'm thinking they're real, simply because they seem far too elaborate to be fake.

I say fake, but not as far off as 2600-DOOM

Confirmed fakes, from R* themselves:

A few days ago, pictures of PSP screens showing what appeared to be gameplay and menus from Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories spread over a large part of the Internet. While most people could tell that they were fake, some claimed that they were real. I received an official statement from Rockstar themselves on the issue:

"They are fake."

Rockstar didn't tell me to say this, but please stop posting them in the forums and around the Internet. It only causes more confusion for people that can't distinguish fake from real.

That's it? That's your whole post? :hmm:

I thought they looked real. The style was exactly what I'd expect from GTA. Who knows, maybe RG is full of it and thy don't want people to know it's the real deal. It's 50/50...no way to REALLY know.

Yeah, the screenshots on the Playstation Portable on the table with the shining light looks like a faked Photoshop cut-in. The company Rockstar, who makes video games, would probably announce this brand new video game for the Playstation Portable and the screenshots would appear on Internet video game websites and various video game based paper reading magazines.

Eh, no big deal either way. It's a given that there will be GTA games on the PSP, so there's little point in getting worked up over some gossipy pics. Chances are, we'll get a portable version of the console games.
