Anyone else here played or own these fun DC racing titles? I like to think of it, since I've sat down with it the past hour, Initial D on a highway rather then a mountain road. So far, running with the AE86, beat 4 rivals so far, upgraded engine to Stage 2.

Are there alot of differences between Racer 1 and 2 as well?

I used to own TXR 2 on the DC, but it got ruined and I haven't gotten around to get another, excellent street racer IMO.

It's been a while, but I think 2 improved upon 1 a lot in the areas of customization and racing, in the sence that in 2 it was just an open world similar to Midnight Club.

TXR were very fun on the DC... some of my favorite racing games on that system along with Sega GT and Destruction Derby. I still play TXR0 on the PS2 from time to time, but frankly I think other games like Burnout and Midnight Club are superior to it -- it gets kind of boring just racing on freeways at night...

How Xtreme 3 compared to the other 2?

it's not bad at all, but don't compare it to the "newer" type of street racers out there. tex3 sticks true to the series and adds an odd RPG-style opening alone with an almost fighting game aesthetic to the car races. the press wasn't kind to it, but if you liked the other two games, you'll like part 3. also, don't forget the recent gba version, which is pretty fun as well.
